The bands first breath came in 2001 right in the heartland of Los Angeles, California . Quickly attracting a crowd with their shows, MayazteK began it’s course as one of Los Angeles most hottest bands. The group consists of musicians with backgrounds that stem from El Salvador, Belize, Mexico, Argentina, Japan, Norway, and the United States. The band members multicultural background allows for people from all over the world to connect and be one by enjoying the sounds, melodies and the unique inverted musical structures that Mayaztek brings to their shows by fusing rhythms from around the globe with in genres such as Ska, Jazz, Reggae, Cumbia and Rumba, creating an eclectic World Beat Sound that is filled with positive energy and universal vibes. The music is notorious for uplifting the soul to move those feet and caderas (hips). By 2005, Mayaztek received an award for it’s involvement in the music industry. The band has played numerous venues such as, The House of Blues, The Roxy, The Cat Club, The Good Hurt and The Nocturnal, now known as The Trip in Santa Monica. Recently MayazteK has recorded a full length 14 track album entitled Arbol (which is available now on CD Baby (http://cdbaby.com/cd/mayaztek)and has begun to hit the scene once again stronger than ever. MayazteK was formed by lead singer and guitarist Moises (MoY) Lovos, Moy's lyrical talents are inspiring to hear and come across as harmonies never heard before. Gustavo Arima, the drummer brings to Mayaztek groovy and funky beats that make you move your feet. Kevon AKA PJ, brings his jazzy style trumpet tunes that are soothing to your ears. Andre, is really fun to see playing on stage with his hot trombone and unique style, making you groove from the inside out while also at the same time using his spacey keyboard sound effects, which brings the music to a whole another level. James, the flute master will hypnotize you with his native american flute, adding a distinct sound to the songs. Not only does James play flute on stage, but also accompanies with light percussion and jembe giving the band a tribal feel. Luis (Louie) Gonzales, jamming on the congas adds that latin style feel that makes the music hotter than ever. Jesse, the bassist holds down the rhythm and adds his style of playing to complement Mayaztek's sound.
