If going against the grain is being true to self and never backing down then every minute of every day is the time for Ken James (a.k.a. Sharp). With an intellectual perspective on life and an inability to bite his tongue on tracks he becomes a creative theorist who wants, more like needs to be heard. The definitive artist. Seasoned through pain and struggling with life Ken still drags his past with him. Losing his father at the age of 11 he was forced to grow up fast and learn to be a man on his own terms. In the 19 years of life Ken has lost friends and family members growing stronger and at the same time battling depression. Refusing to take prescription drugs for his spinal damage and depression he admits, I cant give in to pain, Ive been fighting my demons my whole life and I dont intend to give up now. Facing the pain is much more fitting, for his fathers death was attributed to pain killers. I feel Ive been to hell, and once you know hell theres not too much that can scare you. Born in Northeast Philadelphia and raised between there and his current hometown of Bensalem PA, he found a love for all things constant and real. With a great respect for his mother, who raised three boys single handedly, he has a sincere love for his family. He carries his sense of family to his relationship with his friends and makes sure they are taken care of as he sees them as his family. The way he sees it Besides God I see nothing more important in this world then family. Struggling to live his mother could not always afford the mortgage and almost had to pack and move her and the kids to her mothers. But being on her own since 17 theres no way she was going back. So there was no choice but to tough it out. Im not from the best part of town or the worst part of town and yes money wasnt always there Sharp says. Looking for an outlet Ken turned to his older brothers love of music to get away. His love of real hip hop grew through the years and he started writing music to leave life for a while. He wrote his first song at the age of 10 and hasnt stopped since. Sharp writes, composes, and records all his own songs, and hopes to reach all people with his lyrics. Even Himself. Traveling to different college campuses and playing the party circuit he performed for countless groups large and small and made fans from all backgrounds and never met a person who could deny his talent or passion. To the artists who celebrate mediocrity Sharp is public enemy number 1. Sharp admits I know most of the hip hop world dont wanna hear what a suburban Irish-Italian kid has to say, but they will once they hear me. With undeniably talent and a shatterproof mentality he plans to bust in the doors of the industry and change the face of hip hop.
