Any given moment, countless people are listening to techno. It's hard to believe that a mere ten years ago electronic dance music was considered an underground movement. Techno has grown from virtual obscurity to a genre embraced by millions of listeners and musicians worldwide. Why is techno so successful? Perhaps its recent popularity is due to the growing number of people who are accepting computer technology as an integral part of their lives. Because techno is created almost entirely with electronics, much of it has become an expression of the interface between humans and machines.Release Records is the project Roman Debnar started in 1998 after playing numerous shows with headliners such as Juan Atkins, The stickmen, Dj Dan, Jason Jinx, Frankie bones, Aux88, Mike Huckaby, Clark Warner and many others. Finding a deep passion for electronic music, the club scene and underground music events as a whole, Roman began the construction of the Release Records studio(pictured in Romans profile). It was finished at the end of 2001. Mastering the gear and creating good quality minimal techno was the next project. After 9/11 things took a drastic turn as the music industry took a big hit after going to war with Iraq. Romans days of playing shows and promoting events went almost to a complete standstill. Soon after he decided to just focus on making records and spreading his sound across the internet. In 2005 Release joined up with Anonymous Recordings to debut the first EP. The EP was a success overseas but nver really caught on domestically. Now Roman plays shows locally once in a while but is mainly focused on production and distribution of vinyl. "I like final scratch and serato, as well playing live on a computer and cd players with pitch control, but will that ever replace my love of playing records? Never"
