The Lair Studios
The Lair Recording Studios have been blazin.. all across Canada and internationally, since its birth in 1998. Located downtown at 134 Jarvis St. Toronto, Ontario, The Lair has earned its stripes as one of the most recognized studios throughout Ontario. It is know for its promo, concerts and compilations with artists such as Young Bloodz, Mobb Deep, Wyclef Jean, Buju Banton and Sizzla Kalongie. This is just a taste of what The Lair has accomplished internationally.
They have also teamed up with local artists such as Tara Chase, Hustlemann, Rikoshay and everyone else who is doing their thing in the GTA. The Lair has shown its growth throughout the years of development, but in 2005 they plan to take over what is rightfully theirs. By expanding its market into the fields of filmmaking, post-production and launching its signature line Dream Catcher Music, The Lair Studios will come out on top as the best.
The Members
The Lair Studios is not only known for its promos and concerts, it is also known for its members. The Lair has drawn a line in the music industry by defining the music and making it their own. The members of this institution have been showing their dedication throughout their motto: ..Live Life Love Music... It is not just a saying; it is the way of living throughout the studio. Everyone comes together to do what they do best. It is not just work but also their passion. To them, music will always be their number one. No matter what is said or done it will be told throughout their music, they are the definition of Talent.
C.E.O
Donovan ..Dragz.. Rhoden
As president and top engineer, he is also known for his outstanding productions. From Hip-Hop to Reggae his beats have been circulating the air waves throughout the G.T.A with his debut in the movie ..Love, Sex, and Eating the Bones.. and his newly found ..Drama Riddim.. which have been used by Sizzla Kalongie, Anthony B. and local artist Blessed. He has held down his status as an engineer and promoter since the birth of his music, by showing his dedication to the music industry.
Beat Makers
SoundSmith Productions/Ncredibles
Y-Not, Mac, and Neenyo are beyond talented; with each bringing their own flavour to the game by setting a trend of beat making. Hip-Hop and R&B has now made a life them within the industry, but with each bringing their own talent. Y-Not! His name says it all; he will try any obstacle that is placed before him. Mac comes off more gimmey and underground while Neenyo is more laid back, creeping from under the rock with his slammin.. bangers.
Kool Aid/Ncredibles
The word kool-aid sounds quenching and refreshing only as a drink, but when ..KoolAid.. steps in the building his presence is known by everyone around him. Being as hyper as he is places him in a zone of music which enables him to use every aspect of his talent to make his music worth wild.
Hip-Hop and R&B had now placed a face with the name that was given to him. He has gained his status by producing artists such as Brass Taxx, Don Skilachi and Lay Low whose debut album will be out in Spring 2005.
K.Dog/Ncredibles
Laid back and understanding are a few of the characteristics that represent K.Dog throughout his everyday life. He bring out the sassy vibe in all of us. Hip-Hop, R&B amd Reggae are the three genres of music that symbolizes who he is. He has produced for artists straight out of Detroit Frank & Dank. He will stop at nothing to accomplish his dream.
Darp Malone
Darp Malone can be easily rolled off your tongue seeing that it is a name of rhythm and soul. He puts that extra spice to combine a unique style with a touch of class. He is a man of soul and poetry which makes his music ..dope.. and full of thought. Darp had produced for artists such as E-Dot, Reign and Natasha Watermann. He is evolving himself to stand out in the public his melodic genius.
Shelly J.
Singer, songwriter, producer and engineer, Shelly James defines the meaning of the word versatile. She does not stumble upon her work but rather embraces it. She takes on any task that is placed before her. Her intense emotions allow her to make music at a next level. She has gone from Reggae, R&B to ..Booty.. and she..s still going strong. Shelly enables herself to remain at a certain level by producing and singing with artists such as Mayhem, Natasha Watermann, Don Skilachi, Brass Taxx, Rich Kid and many more. Her status in the music industry will never die but excel. She is making a name for herself and will stop at nothing to gain that status that will put her at ..1.
Rooms
Studio B.
This is where the entire beat making goes down. All the producers under one roof, makes a killer vibe throughout the night. They enlighten each other with their talent, which pushes the other to make something as solid. They feed off each other to combine their thoughts in order to make a beat unbelievable.
