both being independent labels that are based in Aurora, Co. right outside of Denver. With ten years in the making the label Str8 Check N has a total of 10 Rap/Hip Hop albums and can account for over 30,000 units sold.
With a new year here there has been a new agenda put into place. Without neglecting any of the current projects on the table. The label has a chance to explore the other side of music. For a long time the soulful sound of R&B has been around the camp. Weather on hooks/choruses or just laying the pallet under the verses. People have been listening to the harmonies and catchy writings of Dae Dai. Colorado's lone Bad boy of R&B and Soul. This album is titled, "Just Dae by Dai" and is graced with 16 banging tracks.
It shouldn't go un-noticed that
Dae Dai is doing the damn thing on the jam band circuit. With a little more than 2 years under his belt. Dae Dai was the lead singer of a band called FJP. Short for Future Jazz Project. With the help of his song writting, a great voice and wonderful stage presence. Future Jazz Project was voted and won Colorado's 2004 & 2005 Westword Music Showcase best Jazz & Soul band. Early 2006 Dae Dai was offered a publishing deal to write for up-coming artist in the music industry with an undisclosed publisher out of L.A. Having alot on his agenda he had to make a choice. That decision was a tuff one. So the relationship with the band FJP had to end. But only to embark on the dawn of the new day and era as Denver knows it to be. Starting up this band (THE FAM) was far from easy butt I must say that I have never been so happy in my lifetime. THE FAM is so HOT!! That it takes a lil while for you to stop having goose bumps when you first see them perform. It's got to be the best thing in this life time.

Influences: Tell me who was some of the people that influenced your sound?
Dae Dai: Growing up on Gospel and Soul... music was like everyday in my life. I listened to the greats like Thomas Whitfield, Richard Moore, The Hawkins Familly, Milton Bronson Chior to cover the gospel side of things. The soul side would have to be people like Stevie Wonder, Donnie Hatheway, Pebo Bryson, Teddy Pendagrass, Gerald Levert. I can remember listening to Marvin on the record player by my bedside at night and singing along because I felt it soooo much.

Sounds Like: So who do people say you sound like? I got an idea butt I'm gonna let you answer the question. Dae Dai: Like myself!!! Naw naw... It's kind of hard for me to say because I love them all very much. I think what I do is... I take a little bit from them all at different times. It's really according to how I feel and what I'm singing about and what I'm writing at that time. What was you gonna say though? Well I ain't no dick rider but nigga you can sing, sang, blow yo ass off boy. I closed my eyes and I thought that Donnie Hatheway was in the building. Dae Dai: That's crazy cause I hear that alot.
