Wind or Ghost is a rock band from Chicago, IL consisting of Emily Schambra (of Holy Roman Empire ) on vocals, Mark Oster on bass guitar, Eric Gegenheimer on drums and Steve Bednarelli and Todd Rabideau on guitars.
Emily, Mark and Steve were all in a previous band together called Longdistancerunner . After their break up, the three decided they still wanted to create music together. With a newly found sense of freedom they planned to start anew in a style which better suited Emily's dynamic vocal range, while also maintaining the visceral and hook-laden nature of the bands that inspire them as musicians.
They found a second guitarist by looking no further than the band's rehearsal space. Steve and Todd are also in the face-rocking juggernaut All Limbs Intact , and both bands split time writing and recording fresh jams from the same room on Chicago's west side. Todd (a longtime friend of Steve's) had been known to travel with Longdistancerunner to shows in and out of town, becoming fast friends with the rest of the band. Little did they know, he was using this time to silently brainstorm ways to improve them.
After a lengthy process of seeking out and auditioning several drummers while quickly creating new material together, the band finally found a perfect match behind the kit in Eric by the winter of 2005. This decision was based mainly on his Sunny Day Real Estate and Jawbreaker tattoos, but luckily his drumming skills and creativity were evident as well.
With the lineup finally solidified, look out for Wind or Ghost to spend an extensive amount of time tuning their instruments on a stage near you sometime in the near future. The band also has plans on the horizon to record an EPs worth of songs that are sure to give your Ipod and your friends Ipods big fucking boners.
