Environmental sustainability, neighborhood support, cooperative decision-making as well as quality, local, and organic ingredients are at the center of Black Bear Bakery's mission. We now serve breakfast and lunch Friday through Sunday. Stop by on Saturdays for the Neighborhood Brunch that includes many delicious ingredients from local farms and neighborhood gardens. At Black Bear we say, "Grow food locally, better yet, grow it neighborhoodly!"

Black Bear Bakery bakes the old world Lickhalter rye breads as well as a selection of organic whole grain breads and sweets. Since 1998 Black Bear Bakery has been a worker-owned collective. We are dedicated to being a different kind of work place that allows its participants to be at the center of a worker-controlled environment. Black Bear is also proud to have community involvement and grassroots agitation at the very core of our mission. Soon we will be expanding our menu to include a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes and sandwiches. More details soon!
