Violence in the Heartland was originally formed in 2001 by Chris Brooks and his two cousins, Brian and Andrew Ward.

The band needed a drummer, so Cliff Deweese was hired (Currently of Hatrium |m|). Dane was recruited on bass. VITH had 3 guitarists now.

Cliff eventually moved onto Hatrium. Teddy Lietzke was the drummer.

The Ward brothers eventually moved to different states. Brian to Texas, Andrew to Illinois. Cody Armstrong was full time guitarist.
