About Me

::::Bio::::
1985 was the date. The date which a young woman gave birth to a child that instantly would evolve into something people can only recognize as unique.
From day 1, Mike Parlayan, better known as HomiSide, was born and raised on the outskirts of Rochester NY. His mother, and father both of Turkish decent moved to America in 1982 with only one thing in mind, and that was to raise a son. Shortly after HomiSide was born, at the young age of 3, his mother divorced his drug using abusive father, who was never to be seen or spoken too again by his young son to this very date.
This left a young boy and his Mother to fend for themselves with the heartache of an absent father, and merely any money or food to survive, let alone raise a child. With no relatives in the country his mother had to rely on staying with friends in the inner city that she had met in the few years that she had lived in the US. Taking up 2 full time jobs, making barley enough to support her baby and her self she prevailed through the hardships of the situation and moved in with her sister at a house on Clinton ave to further survive in a sense.
HomiSide, only at the age of 5 was put on a plane by himself with a guardian on his way to his homeland of Turkey to stay with relatives, as his Mother worked to save money in hopes of creating a better life for her child. Turkey, is where HomiSide spent the next 3 years of his life seeing his mother only once or twice a year. Raised by uncles and grandmother for these years, learning a different language, and living in a different country. He eventually came back to live with his mother in the US, fluent in Turkish, but now hardly able to speak English. This posed a serious problem for the simple fact that HomiSide had to go to school and grow up basically.
The years passed as HomiSide attended school taking classes to speak English, making education a lot more difficult then the average kid. He did well in his early years, but never really enjoying it much as most kids dont. Every year he would visit his family in Turkey for month long visits speaking Turkish there losing more English which made thing harder. Over time he became fluent with both. In between this time he was visiting Turkey when he was in the middle of what would be one of the biggest earthquakes ever recorded in the country's history. Stayin on the 9th floor of a building he and his family we're lucky to be alive with the building breaking the peices but not falling. Hundred's of thousands of people lost there lives that night, but some how god spaired HomiSide and his family. So it's safe to say HomiSide is extremley lucky to be on this earth today making this music.
Fast-forward now to the year 1995, HomiSide and his mother moved to the suburbs of Webster NY in search of a better life away from the inner city. The years growing up in different cultures, listening to foreign music, American music, and everything in between he had a key interest in it all. At the age of 10, he became well focused on sports and music, aspiring to be a professional athlete or musician. Years would pass as HomiSide would attend school doing more poorly as each year went on. Now at the age of 15, High school was a new adventure. Sports quickly became only a lost dream as he realized success in school was his only ticket towards that dream. Suddenly, music became everything.
Failing in school, getting suspended for various actions, he attended summer school every year up until his departure was all educational schools. This is where he would meet a kid by the name of Chris, in 8th summer school math class. Common interests sparked what would be the start of a long friendship, music career and eventually the downfall of both. 2 Years later the two best friends now, dropped out of high school and quickly started up a rap group called The Nitebreed. Influenced by musicians such as Tupac, ICP, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Twiztid and many others, The Nitebreed began recording and writing music at a fast pace. Releasing a Full length album entitled Occult, The Nitebreed was getting plays on the radio and doin steady amounts of local concert, having many pieces of merchandise and gaining a following, only at the age of 16 & 17. As the years passed both HomiSide and KC continued to make music and further work towards the dream they both shared. Various mixtapes were released by the duo increasing there status in the underground hip-hop scene in Rochester. At the age 19, HomiSide moved to Boston MA which made things rocky for the two friends only to come back to NY which warrants and a felony case on his head facing 10-25 years.
At this point HomiSide fresh out of a 1 night stint in at Natick County Jail in Massachusetts an 1800 dollar bail was paid and he returned to NY only to go back and forth for court dates each month. Eventually the case was dismissed and life started to look up again for the two rappers. Only by this time there friendship was not the same, but the music continued and got better and better as time went on. 1 year after the case was dropped; HomiSide again was in legal trouble for a DWI and about 18 misdemeanors all in one night. He was arrested and throw in prison only to be bailed out 1 day later, again. He is facing years in jail as of right now in July of 2006. In a nutshell, HomiSide and KC both long time friends and artists gave up on each other due to many misunderstandings with the music and life altering events that took place. This left HomiSide solo and on his own for the first time in his career. Shortly after the departure from The Nitebreed, HomiSide signed a deal with Belligerent Entertainment, mass recording new tracks and putting out 2 Be Continued Vol. 1 released on July 13th 2006.
In closing, this is small glimpse into the complicated and unique life of the man known as HomiSide. The music and lyrics are all feelings, emotions, and pieces of his heart given to the world as a gift, but more like just a better understand of a human being. HomiSide is one of a kind with who he is, and the music he puts out for the people of the planet. His lyrics and songs can be funny, disgusting, disrespectful, deep, motivating, spiritual, political, and truthful, to the point that you clearly understand HomiSide has a message with a whole lot to say.
