About Me
Deviated Presence is versatile melodic progressive (Death-) Metal originating from the Ruhr-area (Germany).
Music:
This versatile melodic metal offers a wide range of moods and variations. The most different musical styles are incorporated, while the roots are in melodic deathmetal. Being headquartered in the Ruhr area, some experienced musicians have come together to realize their ideas of music on stages and CDs. Originally named “Unstraight Melodic Deathmetalâ€, the music may meanwhile also be generally called “progressive metalâ€.
History: Deviated Presence started up as a solo project of guitarist Felix Gebhart, who could not find good, motivated musicians to play complex melodic death metal near his hometown Aachen. Having searched in vain for almost three years, he decided in 2001 to push the thing through all by himself. The music was supposed to be profound and harmonious, but rough, as well. Apart from this, it should also be dynamic and not get boring even after copious consumption.
Due to several years of experience as a guitarist the pieces of music became quite demanding. Some initial recording attempts with almost no budget or equipment in winter 2002 resulted in a demo CD (the predecessor of “Fall's Passageâ€). By spreading the demo he hoped to find musicians who would persue this style with him and make playing live-gigs possible. But the ongoing lack of musicians forced Felix to move from Aachen to Bochum in the Ruhr-area where he hoped to find a more active scene and musicians to play with.
After this step the solo project indeed changed into a band, who released the albums “Fall’s Passage†and “Eerie Sphere†in 2004 and 2005. However, after several years with a drum computer as part of the line-up, the band split up in 2006, followed by yet another phase as a solo project. In 2007, though, the band began to form up again.
Anne Schaefer (16 at that time) with only three years of playing experience and lots of talent succeeded Hubert on the guitar. In summer 2008 Daniel Dickmann (Seventh Seal Broken, Ex-In Cold Eternity) joined in. So the line-up was finally fit for the stage, the long period with synthetic drums ended, the time for a new dawn had come.
Freshly strengthened Deviated Presence are hence ready for resurrection and present their fans and fans-to-be an album that is bursting with ideas and surprises. Admittedly, Fractured Mind may initially be asking too much of the listeners, but with every run there are new nuances and ideas to be discovered – thus making you listen re-listen time and again. What were Felix’s band requirements again? “The music was supposed to be profound and harmonious, but rough, as well. Apart from this, it should also be dynamic and not get boring even after copious consumption.†– or, to put it in a nutshell: it had to sound like “Fractured Mind†!

Live: In the meanwhile some live experience on different stages could be gathered (e.g.: Turock, Essen with
Equilibrium; Kultopia, Hagen with Disillusion; Werk 21, Zürich with Hidden In The Fog), where the
positive reactions of the viewers spoke for themselves. Time and again even first listeners of the complex
music show excitement and want to get to know the compositions better on CD. Once you are a DP fan, your
excitement is usually long-lasting and massive.
