MC Quake

About Me

The story of MC Quake is not overlong, nor is it an eyeblink. It starts out at the Westport Bar in Dundee, winds its way down through Scotland, across the Channel and around a bit of the Continent, flies back to America and sits around for several years, codifying itself into a series of cassette letters (later mined to great effect by King Creosote, Billy Pilgrim and others), and eventually realizing an actual collaboration with an honest-to-goodness dj, OnTheFly. Since this catalytic moment, MC Quake has produced several mini-albums and collaborated with many more Fence artists and others, all of whom by dint of their own shining brilliance managed to rub a little bit off on his own projects, making them actually listenable. He even occasionally cobbles together whatever accomodating fellow musicians are available into the inimitable Seismonauts backing band for live, one-of-a-kind gigs.Exploring the many ways he has been influenced by bands like Negativland, Jonathan Richman, Digital Underground and No Means No, MC Quake follows his whims wherever they lead, blending sonic experimentation, beats, found sounds, hip-hop and anything else that seems to sound good at the time into music that is truly hard to pigeonhole. Maybe someday he'll stick to something long enough to do it right! MyGen Profile Generator
