rum From Da Slumz25 years old from Camberwell South is an up and coming UKHH artist set to break across the scene. From his deep upfront lyrics and his heavy beats, this guy is no wanabe, he's a gonabe!rum started rapping in '94 with influences from 2-pac to Kool G Rap to Wu - tang and rass kass, "Snoop Dogg influenced me to start with. His explicit lyrics, he rhymes what he thinks, and the truths. Made me think this is a good way to express myself, through rhyming."With various mix tapes already out on the streets and has put on performances alongside Rodney P and Lewis Parker and participates in many showcases across London to gain recognition. rum also has one of his tracks, 'Silent Cries' on rotate on Choice FM's Phoebe One show and Ras Kwame from BBC 1xtra.This cat has determination in his blood and success twinkling in his eyes. He knows he still has a long way to go but he is so driven to succeed that anyone who is anyone will believe in his ambition. Rhymes will always be flowing, the major pushing into getting the promotion is being done the best way he knows how and that's to keep on going, " The best advice I could give to people tryna get into the industry is to be prepared for a long road, don't expect overnight success and always take the criticism"rum believes that it's the criticism that makes you a stronger artist; you have to get on that stage and show them that you believe in yourself. Show them your ego, show them attitude. To make a good artist you have to have the flow, the lyrics and the voice, "Some acts carry two of these three, some of them only have one. I have all three". There's his ego right there! At the end of the day, if he doesn't believe in himself why should others? Fair play to him.So what's the next step for Redrum from da slumz? "My plans are to put out my single 'Silent Cry's' and hopefully get some feedback from some labels, if not I will just keep putting out tunes and start up an independent label, a good distribution deal and hopefully start pushing out other artists." rum believes that UKHH has come along way but isn't getting enough support, so please get him signed up quick so he can bring on his talent and help promote others!Just remember, you can criticise this guy as much as you want, it won't stop his potential talent from hitting up the music scene with a full blast!Interview byNina Carmela
