I am here for Friends

About Me

Please. Thank you. I have a hard time sleeping.

Tour of minority villages surrounding Jinghong, Xishuangbanna/Yunnan

We rented a car and took some friends with us for a day of cruising. Dubbed "mini-Thailand" by Lonely Planet and Chinese people alike, Xishuangbanna is one of the most diverse areas in China, home to a large number of minority groups and crazy plant life. And elephants.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Beijing--Part II

Next day started bright and early. This was the wall day, and it was part of a tour package offered by our hotel, with an English-speaking guide and everything. Easy. Frank showed up in our hotel lobb...

Beijing, part I

Beijing Beijing Beijing. When people think of China--us included before we actually came over here--they think of the biggies: Tiananmen, the wall, the 2008 Olympics, the people. We have had a few sig...

It was only a matter of time...

Last night we were in a taxi on our way to a Korean bar near the Chinese beach. As we came upon a busy section of Shenyang Road, we noticed that traffic had slowed down a little bit. As we got closer,...

Fun central with Chinese police

Last week was an interesting one.  We are fast approaching a Neal and Alyssa-free Weihai, so we have to get in as much hanging out time as possible.  We decided to meet Neal on the beach so ...
