Komesy's entrance into the DJ industry was at thirteen years old when he got his first set of vinyl decks as a combined birthday and Christmas present. With the tools he needed, Komes began experimenting with mixed music genres and practiced, and practiced… and practiced. Unlike most kids his age, which would spend their cash on clothes and fast food, Ryan's Maccas wage was devoted to buying vinyl records, and saving for better equipment. As well as teaching himself to beat match, scratch and mix, Komes’ interest in music and the development of his talents continued throughout high school. He found himself the DJ of more than his fair share of house parties, as he was too young to get in to nightclubs. It was only after leaving school that he began to boom as a musician…
Deciding to pursue a career as a fulltime DJ in 2008, Komes followed through with the tough move to quit his job in website design to fully focus on showcasing his distinctive style to strong grassroots support from both the dance music community and the clubbers across the Gold Coast. In a short amount of time of time, Komes became resident DJ at a Surfers Paradise nightclub, Cocktails and Dreams, working 3 nights a week at the largest commercial dance club on the Gold Coast. Having performed at Cocktails & Dreams, Komes mixed both dance music and R&B, providing an awesome experience for the clubbers at one of the busiest nightclubs on the Gold Coast. Komes had his Friday night sets from Cocktails & Dreams broadcasted live across the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads airwaves on 105.7 Radio Metro, developing a whole new legion of listeners. Komes has made appearances at Fisho’s on their busy Sunday sessions and has also played at Evolution 2007 – A Schoolies Under 18’s dance party & Griffith University’s 2007 End of Year party held at the Uni Bar, which just recently held the likes of The Stafford Brothers.
