Heart Machine

How Does it Feel to be Obsolete?

About Me

Somewhere on the outskirts of Greenville, South Carolina, the Heart Machine was first cranked up in late '07, with sparks flying wildly and vacuum tubes aglow. The band thus far has been an attempt to solder some old-school rock and roll soul back onto the gleaming silicon heart of tomorrow, then jack up the current till the capacitors melt the fuck down. Components include - Kris Hyatt, late of the Lackies, the Black Lungs, and Noyes (the human metronome, running on a vast intake of caffeine and "other fuels"); Brian Jeter, formerly of the Sharpest Knives in the Drawer, and currently also playing with the Lionz of Zion and Heritage for Homeless (the heart in the machine, the pulsing current); Max, also from Sharpest Knives (the mechanical man); and a vast array of old amps, drum kits, wires, and resistors (obsolete tech that never learned to shut up or break down completely). Maybe we'll throw in all into a new chrome chassis and start thinking about the world domination...or maybe we'll just send sparks flying up YOUR jacob's ladder.

It looks like this is the end

I hate to say this, but it looks like we've reached the end.  Certain unavoidable truths are now staring us in the face, and so it doesn't look like we'll be able to carry on with Heart Machine for th...

New song up for Valentine's

Posted a special new tune up for Valentine's Day.  Kind of a sentimental 'oirish' ballad - maybe not what anybody expects from me, but if you've got a problem with it you can stuff it.  It features ou...

Why the Banking Crisis is Like a Conway Twitty Greatest Hits Album

Wait, bear with me here.  You see, banks are like Country & Western singers.  Sometimes, they have a hit, and sometimes they have a miss; say, giving a mortgage to a meth dealer on a million-dollar ho...

New band bio up; old bio archived here

Note to self:  never write a band bio with such specific references to time and place.  Next time, be more vague and mysterious (kids eat that stuff up, right?).  I've got a new bio up on the main pag...

R.I.P. - Ron & Lux & (Your Name Here)

Well, first Ron Asheton of the Stooges passes on, and now Lux Interior of the Cramps has left the building.  Geez, as if losing three-quarters of the original Ramones and Joe Strummer wasn't bad enoug...

New Top 8 and news

Thought I'd rotate the top 8.  Brian stays, and now our one-man street team Paul is in the no. 2 spot (but always always no. 1 in my heart, Paul...always. *sniff*).  I've got the mini-spiels on everyb...
