From the first time Blake Tahoe heard Hip Hop music he was hooked! Not sure how old he was when he first heard Salt-N-Pepa, but knows they were the first rhymes he ever heard, and he had to have more. The next tapes he got were Run DMC and Public Enemy. Needless to say the bug bit him! At 12 he started to write rhymes and practice in the mirror 3 hours a day to his and/or other people’s lyrics/music. After practicing and writing for almost 4 years he decided to show case his skills in a school talent show. Taking the name Bigg B he decided to perform Doggfather off the Snoop Dogg - Doggfather album. Not yet sure he was ready to spit his own lyrics. When he was ready to perform the curtain went up and music started then stopped just as quick. Tahoe, then Bigg B, froze. The music not starting made his instincts take over and he started to freestyle off the top of his head . . . A Cappella. He got a standing ovation. It was the greatest rush in the world for him. Blake walked through the halls and guys that only listen to Metal were giving him props. So every chance he got he would write and spit for the next few years. After a while people started asking about any songs he has done so he decided to make some mix tapes.
First was Cali - Love . In 2002 Bigg B put together a blueprint to a Rock & Roll life. Sex, drugs, and the fast life. As well as his personal touches from destroying his adversaries to raunchy lyrics. It became a local classic.
Next came Bigg Thang$ in 2003. Showcasing his storytelling ability and how he had grown as an artist from one record to another.
After slowing down his party lifestyle he settled down got married and had a son. Being true to himself and the art of Hip Hop music he adapted and became a more serious lyricist. Working on his first real album he wanted to show how he had revamped and grown as an artist. Changing his name to Blake Tahoe to prove his new birth. Using his government name and the area where he grew up as a play on words and putting them together.
2005 was the debt of Rebirth & Redemption . The 19 track album gives everything from rapid fire flows to laid back lyrics. A cleaver new style that puts together a story telling ability, old school rhyme delivery with a classic West Coast type flow. Hooking up with a hot new producer J.W.D. to complete the entire album. They ended up making a sound all its own. A sound that helped defines Blake Tahoe and evolve him into the artist he has become. Now he is working on the new project with producers J.W.D., Ras, and more. With his upcoming record he is continuing to write a new chapter in Nevada Hip Hop that helps shape Rap music in the Northwest.
