Basically, the idea behind Chevy Metal is that they play rock songs from the 70's, DIRT ROCK, as they say. Music that a meth dealer from 1973 would have listened to. They don't play Hollywood, that's where bands go to be seen by the 'industry'.. they're a party band, they do live bars, and small clubs in the valley, oh, and the Malibu Inn once a month... They're definately a Valley band, even though they rehearse up the hill in Topanga, in that case, I guess they're a canyon band..heh... but they don't play that folkie hippie crap, not that there's anything wrong w/ that... They have friends and other musicians jump up and play guitar, bass, drums or sing even, guys from other bands, like Bobby Bloxer (?) from Ratt played drums at their first gig... Dave Grohl of course played drums and guitar long time ago at the Malibu Inn.. Eric Avery, Chris Chaney, Dave Navarro, the Janes Addiction guys, uhh... oh, and Chad Smith from the Chili Peppers played drums w/ them... they also had some 16 year old kid get up and play drums.. just some kid that loved taylor, they snuck him in the Malibu Inn.And here's some footage from abuelitas:
