You would think that in the 5 years it took in making the album Superstar Syndrome there would be a story. Well there is.On their 4th year at work Ricardo and Marc decided to write an album that was from the heart, an album with no arrangements, just melody, harmony and lyrics. An Album that was straight from the soul. The result was an album that although powerful, was too introverted and singer-songwriter for the shows they wanted to perform. And so they went back to the drawing board. While brainstorming they decided to put a band together with Marcs Brother Marcel Geffrard and Marcs long time best friend Addi Lafosse. We wanted a show that encompassed many different emotions. Ups and downs, a sound that used our favorite moods in songwriting but also had that groove and attitude you get from rock and roll. We wanted to show off a bit (cause we can) but most importantly create music that We wanted to listen to. The kind of music that we wanted to hear from our favorite bands, but which rarely happened. A sound that we will always be working on. says Ricardo. The eclectic nature of their music is apparent. But its not so eclectic as to not have a common ground. They stand influenced between the experimental energy of The Beatles and soul from artists like James Brown. Ricardo explains Why regurgitate the same songs over and over again like most bands when you can push the boundaries. Really open yourself up.In comes Superstar Syndrome. The album was finished. Since Ricardo and Marc wanted to have an album that competed with the top name bands, they worked at the top studios. Crescent Moon Studios (Miami), L&M Studios (Los Angeles) and Capitol Records (Los Angeles). Although they had the elements to over produce, the idea was to keep a raw and real edge. What you see is what you get. Hardly any over dubs, the real deal, so-to- speak; at least that was the intention. The stories on this album come from two things. The love and passion we have had for Music in our lives, and Women, Oh yes, Women says Ricardo. Songs like Queen of the Town show the light hearted fun of a rock showstopper whereas What she dont know wont hurt her or The Art of Love-making from afar both demonstrate the subtle science of songwriting. You may ask yourself; what is it theyre trying to do? Who are they? Are they ballad writers or rockers? The answer is that they are both. Come to an R-Kay show and youll get to think. Youll listen. Youll feel. And youll party too!!! Why not?Superstar Syndrome? Youll see. Just come to the next show!!!
