There is one main philosophy behind Somewhere To Fit's music: write what you know. All of the bands music is based on real experiences and feelings ranging from heartache (Lose The Battle) to feelings of aggravation that you cant do more to help (Wish I Was A Hero) to eye-rolling admittance that you lack the willpower to say no (You Call).
Shaky starts and disappointments are quite common in the field of entertainment, and Somewhere To Fit are in no way an exception. In fact, the shaky start lasted three whole years. Originally wanting to be a keyboardist, James took guitar lessons in school as they were free. When the lessons ended after a few short weeks, he promptly gave up and let his guitar gather dust. As his musical interests increased in diversity, however, he picked it up again and remembered what he could, teaching himself the rest. With his first few chords came his first few songs, and gradually an interest in actually doing this as a career option pushed its way to the front of James mind. The band itself came into being in late 2002 but a permanent line up could not be found due to lack of interest.
Over two years later James had moved on to college, and this is where he met Emma, who after a brief stint on drums decided to learn bass and join the band. In June 2005 a demo of Wish I Was a Hero was recorded for a music video James had to make for a college project in which Toby Brandon was enlisted as an actor. After a jam session later on in the same month he was asked to become drummer for the band.
As of summer 2006 Toby left the band and Emma and James continued on as an acoustic act.
2007 saw the addition of Josh Iles, who took on the role of drummer. The band are currently working on new material and hope to release their second EP soon.
