Rotten Gimmick was born at the Metroplex in the fall of 1986. Paul Cornwell was short a band one night and he threw Carl showboat Schroeder and myself on stage. we play a couple of songs way to fast.
During the early part of the next year Jay and Rob moved up to atlanta from florida.We all moved into the Walker street warehouse where we lived and rehearsed. Soon we started playing out and during that first summer the Walker steet warehouse was the site of the legendary 5 bands 5 kegs for 5 bucks parties the first lineup was Rotten Gimmick Antiheros Moonstomp Cocktailgirls and the Tombstones.
Over the next couple of years Rotten Gimmick played many shows at the Plex opening for such acts as DRI GBH [twice] Exploited, Circle JERKS [twice] Antiheros ALL and Gwar. Other memorable shows include supporting Killing Joke and than Murphys Law at the Roxy as well opening for The Butthole SURFERS and Gwar again at the Masqurade. We also played the Royal Peacock, The White Dot, The Cotten Club, The Point {my favorite} The Wreck ROOM and many other joints in Atanta and throughout the southest.
During The Drop Circus years the band played many more shows opening for the Dead milkmen,Dread Zeppelin and The Black Crows twice once at The POINT and than at the Great Potfest in Piedmont park in front of a very large crowd
Next came the Power project which was mainly a recording project though this band play some shows in florida and in georgia. Power found the band back at what they do best old school punk. After Power came the short lived RottenDave and TheTyrants recording 12 songs this band play only one show at the Somber Reptile
The band signed with Railroad records and recorded one self-titled cd under the name Drop Circus. This was the only music ever released. The band has recorded many other songs over the years but has yet to release this catalog. What you hear on this site is new to the public.
