About Me

A Master of Ceremony who goes by the name of Redef, is an inspired name from the word Re-definition. Lee Trush, 22, feels he has a duty to redefine the portrayal of what hiphop is today, and all the while shattering your pre-conceived notions of the artform. He has achieved this by bringing elements of other musical genres, such as rock, techno, and blues. His musical prowess began with himself stringing tunes together on his guitar, and after spending countless hours with his friends in the basement, he took his passion and dedication to the next level. Thus Redef's rapping career ensued, a pursuit that began only in 2004. Before then he had been a long time fan of artists such as KRS One, Mos Def, Boogie Down Productions and Public Enemy. So with motivation in hand, Redef made a decision to pack it up in 2000 and he moved out east to Montreal. He spent 2 years immersed in the vibrant bi-lingual scene, soaking up its cultural affluence and checking the flourishing hot spots that provided rhyming inspiration from its different pockets of style. His songs reflect the atmosphere of the radiant city. His songs are upbeat and catchy which are apparent from his EP album “Man of the Hour EP.” The song writing process for him is creatively born like a freestyle song, saying whatever comes “off the top.” He likes being “sporadic” all the while infusing “political” ideas into his rhymes. Keep your eyes peeled for his upcoming album release currently "untitled". In the meantime check out the upcoming shows section of this page.
