Band Members: Bob Baxter: Vocals and acoustic guitar. Bob Applebaum: Mandolin. Tom Sauber: Fiddle. John Schlocker: 5-string banjo. Bill Bryson: Stand-up bass. Darren Elpant: Drums. Hummingbirds: Backup vocals. That's the performers on the album "Lucky Me!"
Influences: The biggest influences were Elizabeth Cotten and Mance Lipscomb. I was able to spend some wonderful time with these two dear people, and Mance was the one that got me over the hurdle of playing authentic acoustic blues. He was a great man.My record-listening influences were everyone from Josh White to Blind Blake, Robert Johnson, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, the Carter Family, Flatt & Scruggs, Bill Monroe...the list goes on and on.
Sounds Like: The album, "Lucky Me," sounds absolutely authentic. Authentic to what I don't know. Myself and the musicians on the record have all been playing traditional acoustic country music and bluegrass for 30 years. Add to that my heavy rural blues influences and you have what I call, "Art Deco Blues."
Record Label: Gold Chain Records
Type of Label: Indie
