Making unnecessary long rides...necessary!
Traffic heading into the city wasn’t too bad (before rush-hour). I exited down in the South Bronx and took a little bridge, near the Fordham exit, over the Harlem River into Manhattan. From there I took the streets (some urban backroads) near the river, behind a power plant, to the very northern beginning of the FDR Drive (that not too many people know about). I took the gentrified East River, south past Yankee Stadium, all the way home. I parked my bike on my street, right near my apartment building, unloaded, then hiked everything upstairs, opened the door, and threw my gear inside.
Back on the street, as I walked the pavement towards a corner bodega (no grass, no mountains, no stream here), I recalled how wonderful the last few days were. It was actually a ‘wake up’ call and a lesson for me, to slow down, to learn how to relax, and to pay more attention to enjoying life. After paying the cashier, I approached the counter and removed my freshly ground double espresso from the pick-up shelf. Then I went by the window of the shop and sat at a table that looked out on the street. I took a sip…as a couple on a cruiser rolled by two up. Tomorrow I’ll ride again somewhere. I hope as much fun as today though. …(or the last four days)… Home sweet home!

MIND SET
"May God in Heaven fulfill abundantly the prayers which are pronounced over you and your bikes on this occasion of the Blessing of the Bikes. May God bless your going out and coming in; May the Lord be with you at home and on the road. May He accompany you when you start on your many journeys: May He fill your lives abundantly with many blessings; May He keep all your rides safe. May His mercy, grace and love shine upon your every path."
i repeat
"Live to ride & ride to eat!"
"..may i take your order?"
"..water, coffee?"
"Welcome back, your dreams were your ticket out
Welcome back, to that same old place that you laughed about..."
