About Me

As most of these stories go; In 2005 FRIENEMY formed from the ashes of two local Monrovia bands whose names, hence forth, shall never be mentioned. A friend of both bands one day noticed that there were certain members in each group that were better than the rest. He then suggested that those members join together and dump the rest. The theory seemed sound so the chance was taken and they did it. From the leftovers FRIENEMY was born.
In early 2007 Jesse, Nick, Russ, and Mike where at the Good Hurt in West L.A. to see their friends Opus Dai perform. After the show this tiny scrawny thing of a man walked up to them and introduced him self. Lee had always been a lead singer in all his previous bands but was coming off a bad break up with his most recent band as a rhythm guitarist and back-up vocalist. He was ready to take the reins again and step up to front man. All he needed was the right group. After a couple of rehearsals together, what remained of FRIENEMY unanimously decided that Lee was kinda ok and would definitely due for now.
With the band finally complete it was clear that a recording had to be made and so it was. FRIENEMY independently released their first EP entitled “Goodbye for the Last Time” in 2008. Soon after, tragedy struck again in the form of drummer Nick leaving the band to return to his native state of Colorado to play jazz with his parents. The long and arduous task of finding a replacement began. The mission was to find a replacement that would be able to “pull off” what Nick had played on the EP. This mission was much easier said than done. However, The Man was found and he was found right in our own backyard. Local Monrovian Steve Wyatt, who was actually FRIENEMY’s first original drummer but had to leave because of other commitments, was ready to climb back on the horse and be the foundation that the group needed.
FRIENEMY forged on to once again experience the loss of another member. This time one of the guitar players, Mike Platt, decided that the group was just too hardcore for him and disappeared. He will be missed.
FRIENEMY moves on and strongly believes in the remaining quartet and its future as a four piece.
