Born and raised in the Detroit area, Art grew up listening to the Beatles, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, The Allman Brothers, Gino Vanelli, Burt Bacharach, Beethoven and Bach. A straight A music theory student, he studied classical music theory while honing his rock and pop music skills in cover and original music bands. He played all around the southern Michigan, southern Illinois and Northern Indiana areas, sometimes driving from gigs directly to school and completely missing a nights sleep not wanting to miss his music classes at Eastern Michigan University. A high point of his early career was a call by Grand Funk Railroad to come out to their studio in Flint Michigan and audition to fill the large shoes of singer/guitar player Mark Farner. Art says, “They loved my guitar playing, but said I didn’t quite have the vocal chops to sing the Farner materialâ€. Needless to say, Art didn’t get the gig, but gained good friends and a great experience. He left Michigan in search of a career in the music business, ending up in Los Angeles he began playing in original rock bands all over Southern California. He performed in venues like the famed Madame Wong’s West in Santa Monica and Club 88 (now the Viper Room) in Hollywood on the Sunset Strip among others.Currently writing up a storm and playing the occasional gig to keep his chops up, he's focusing on writing for other artists, and also developing his TVFilm soundtrack career.Still writing like crazy, so stay tuned!Any questions, feel free to message me.
