Music, to me, is a vessel through which I reflect upon and demonstrate the subjects of life that concern me the most. Concepts such as materialism, consumerism, technology, individualism, love, innocence, regret, time, self-obsession, helplessness, fear, and faith are some recurrent themes throughout the songs I write. I believe that some of these themes convey the most prevalent psychological and societal issues of the modern world, issues that are often exacerbated by our tendency to ignore them in our fast-paced lives. A combination of both personal experience and observation of people has created a passion in me to reveal these ideas through music and words . . .The central theme of our first album "High Wire" is the struggle to develop a personal identity and the hardships caused by life in a world constantly trying to mold who we are. Through this theme, I try to make truth out of the role identity plays in our lives. Songs like "Coming Around", "Prayer for the Faithful", and "The Color of Fools" speak about manipulation of individuals in society, social groups, and organized religion. Other songs like "Shadows of the Road" and "Hideaway" explore the uncertainty of love, the power of love, and the frequent abuse of the label of love. "Magnolia Street", a more psychological song than the others, is a metaphorical depiction of the dangers of regret. Though each song has its own unique meaning, the foundation of every track is on personal turmoil and the desire to understand one's self. Life is a constant struggle to identify with our surroundings, other people, and ourselves, and it is the myriad of inexorable psychological, societal, and personal factors that will inevitably define who we are.

Music is all about playing with emotions. It moves you; it excites you; it makes you want to dance; it relaxes you; it makes you cry. Lyrics help crystallize the themes expressed through music, enabling the listener to better understand the spiritual experience had by the artist in composing the song and to relate to the specific set of emotions felt by the artist. Lacking the luxury of length afforded by argumentative or expository prose, lyrics must cut to the heart of a conflict or issue, emphasizing the major themes through the chorus, providing background information in the verses, and indicating a change or new understanding during the bridge. In our songs, we strive to provide the listener with carefully crafted music that conveys distinct, unified themes in each of our seven songs. I hope you enjoy listening to our music as much as we enjoyed creating, practicing, and recording it.

We started recording "High Wire" on 8/10/08 and finished recording on 8/24/08. All instruments were recorded in the living rooms of our homes and nothing was made in studio or with the help of a professional. On top of that, Heath learned all of the vocal parts in two days while fighting a cold, so with all of this in consideration, if you think the quality of recording is subpar, this is why. I (Sean) feel like the album is an incomplete artwork, because there are areas in the concept of identity I feel like I still need to cover. Hope your Zarathustra experience is a magical one, and much love to anyone who has added our songs to their profile.
