Pan-African Association

About Me

Located in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood, the Pan-African Association is a non-profit mutual aid association dedicated to providing adjustment, economic, and cultural programs that assist individuals towards achieving self-reliance and successful integration into American society. We're staffed primarily by people of African descent with the support of caring volunteers.Making a Difference Since opening its doors, the Pan-African Association has served thousands of people in many ways: people may have come to the Pan-African Association with issues concerning education, immigration, housing, employment, or a sense of dislocation in their community. Through our services, obstacles are overcome, and hope is renewed, not only through the provision of services, but by providing a physical space for Africans and people of African descent to come together and support one another. All of the Pan-African Association's educational, cultural, social and economic programs are free of charge and open to all African refugees and immigrants regardless of ethnic background or tribal affiliation. Our Objectives are to:* Provide tools that enable self-sufficiency, and improve family health.* Assist the African community in maintaining its cultural heritage through music, art, dance, culinary, and literary skills.* Develop resources for and within Chicago's African community.* Strengthen mental outlooks through support groups, mentorship, and workshops.* Build bridges between Africans of all nations, and the community at large.* Form collaborations between Chicago's African community and lawmakers, service organizations, etc.* Enable African refugees and immigrants to live well-adjusted, fulfilling lives as integral components of American society. Our Thanks to our Many Donors, Including:* Baxter International* The Chicago Community Trust* The Lloyd A. Fry Foundation* Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement* Illinois Department of Human Services* Illinois Department of Public Health* Individual Donors* Institutions throughout Chicagoland.. ..
