Angelo

Angelo Giuseppe Di Guardo è nato a Catania il 7 Giugno 1984. Sin da bambino ha avuto un amore e una predisposizione per la musica davvero innati e speciali. Ha studiato solfeggio parlato e cantato, teoria musicale e clarinetto presso l’Associazione Culturale di Belpasso M. Virgillito, con Matteo Finocchiaro (compositore, trombettista, maestro d’orchestra e insegnante di musica) e Maria Concetta Tomaselli (clarinettista e insegnante di solfeggio, teoria musicale e clarinetto) dal 1998 al 2005, lavorando ed esibendosi come clarinettista in diverse feste folcloristiche di paese, piazze e teatri importanti del circondario etneo. Nel Dicembre 2002 vince il concorso bandistico dell’Associazione Musicale Culturale M. Virgillito. Durante questi anni matura in lui la voglia dello studio della musica leggera, consolidato dal suo amore e dal suo talento. Le sue influenze sono del tutto miste, dal sound melodico e disinteressato di Michael Bublé, alla forza e solarità di Anastacia o Christina Aguilera, un tocco di soul tipico di Alicia Keys, Lemar o Robert Kelly unito a quel sentimentalismo melodico ma mai banale di Alex Baroni o Tiziano Ferro, spesso correlati alla dolcezza gotica del sound rock degli Evanescence. Studia solfeggio parlato e cantato, teoria musicale e musica leggera presso l’insegnante Lilla Costarelli (insegnante di canto, affermata corista sanremese e cantante) dal 1999 al 2004. Dopo la bellissima esperienza con Lilla fa i suoi primi passi nel mondo della musica avendo un discreto successo con il “Girofestival”, in onda ogni anno su Raitre. Qui ha la possibilità di migliorare le sue tecniche, grazie agli stage formativi, di lavorare e studiare con big della musica leggera italiana, quali Paolo Meneguzzi, Ivana Spagna, Piotta, Andrea Cardillo etc… e nel contempo di farsi spazio tra i giovani emergenti del concorso, raggiungendo le finalissime, trasmesse su Raitre nell’estate 2004. Inizia poi l’Accademia di Sanremo e la partecipazione col gruppo “Megahertz” che non gli porta grande fortuna, l’avventura sanremese si blocca alle finalissime del Sanremo Giovani. Ogni anno partecipa a diversi concorsi locali piazzandosi sempre tra i primi posti (dalla “Vela D’Oro” della PanamusicRecords al più giovane “Miros Festival” nel quale vince il Premio Miglior Interpretazione nell'estate 2008 insieme alla cantante Sofia Cannata). Intanto si occupa di un’altra passione che lo attira molto, il teatro, partecipando insieme a diverse compagnie teatrali alla realizzazione di commedie in lingua siciliana dei grandi N. Martoglio, L. Pirandello e S. Savarino. Consolidati i due campi, teatrale e musicale, si iscrive all’Associazione M.A.S.T. Qui partecipa ai corsi di recitazione e canto Ma cosa vuoi che sia, tenuti da M. Salfi (pianista e scrittore), F. Lazzaro (arrangiatore), B. Ceglie (attrice teatrale e televisiva, regista e organizzatrice di eventi culturali), R. Limoli (maestro di arti marziali), E. Di Grandi (produttrice), A. Barbagallo (giornalista), G. Milone (scrittrice), E. Raimondo (costume designer), M. C. Spartà (costume designer), G. Di Salvo (costume designer), T. Ranno (produttore), G. Scarcipino Pattarello (attrice, ballerina e coreografa), I. Balcone (insegnante di canto) da Marzo 2004 a dicembre 2005 per la realizzazione del musical Ma cosa vuoi che sia (musical inedito scritto da M. Salfi ed ispirato a La Lupa di G. Verga). Musica e poesia sono strettamente legati e, infatti Angelo partecipa anche a diversi concorsi di poesia e letteratura come il prestigioso Premio Letterario “Dacia Maraini”, classificandosi tra i primi posti. Nel contempo comincia a intraprendere il mestiere del pianobar in diversi locali del circondario etneo accompagnato sempre da partner dalla voce assolutamente bellissima, quali Andreazzurra Gullotta, partecipante del programma X-Factor, e Sofia Cannata. Per completare le sue competenze in ambito di show business decide d’intraprendere l’avventura Disneyland Paris. Parte quindi alla volta della splendida città francese e fa una delle esperienze più belle della sua vita, partecipando attivamente alla realizzazione del sogno Disney (tra parate, spettacoli, High School Musical e magia). L’avventura gli permette di consolidare le sue conoscenze della lingua inglese, francese, spagnola e tedesca e di aggiungere al suo bagaglio musicale qualcosa di totalmente unico. Dopo i nove mesi a Parigi ritorna nell’amata Sicilia in attesa che qualcuno lo noti per realizzare il suo sogno, un contratto discografico e la musica per la vita. Nel settembre 2008 vince con Sofia Cannata il premio della critica al Miros Festival (premio consegnato dal maestro Roberto Pregadio, famoso maestro d'orchestra del programma di Canale 5 "La Corrida"). Qualche mese dopo, a dicembre, partecipa al "Festival Città di Mascalucia" classificandosi al primo posto, premiato dalla cantante Antonella Arancio (reduce da diverse edizioni del Festival di Sanremo). Nel 2009 vince due premi, a marzo lo "Star Song Festival" con Sofia Cannata nella sezione duo (andato in onda su Sky-PlayTv) e ad Agosto il Lennon Festival con Andreazzurra (nella giuria gli Sugarfree, Gatto Panceri e Michael Allen). Angelo Giuseppe Di Guardo was born in Catania on 7th june 1984. Since he was a child he had had a special love and an innate natural bent for music. He studied spoken and sung sol-fa, musical theory and clarinet in the Cultural Association of Belpasso "M. Virgillito", with lessons led by Matteo Finocchiaro (composer, trumpet player, conductor and music’s teacher) and Maria Concetta Tomaselli (clarinet’s player and teacher of sol-fa, musical theory and clarinet) since 1998 to 2005, working and performing such as clarinet player in differents folk parties, squares and important Sicilian theatre. On December 2002 he won a band competition of the Cultural Association "M. Virgillito". During these years he started to think about studying pop music, consolidated by his love for music and his talent. His influences are mixed: the melodic and disinterested sound of Michael Bublé, the power and sunshine voices of Anastacia or Christina Aguilera, a touch of soul typical of Alicia Keys, Lemar or Robert Kelly mixed with a melodic but never trivial sentimentalism of Alex Baroni or Tiziano Ferro, often correlated to the gothic sweetness of the Evanescence’s rock sounds. He studied spoken and sung sol-fa, musical theory and pop music with Lilla Costarelli (music teacher, famous chorister of Sanremo’s Festival and singer) since1999 to 2004. After the beautiful experience with Lilla he made his first step in the show business’ world having a good success with the tv program “Girofestival”, on air on Raitre ev’ry summer. He had the possibility to improve his musical techniques, thanks to the stages and the work with stars of Italian Music such as Paolo Meneguzzi, Ivana Spagna, Piotta, Andrea Cardillo and so on…and at the same time to get to the finals, on air on Raitre in the summer 2004. After he started Sanremo’s Academy with the group “Megahertz” but he didn’t be so lucky, in fact Sanremo’s adventure finished in the finals of "Sanremo Giovani". Ev’ry years he participates to local singing competition awarding always first prizes (since the “Vela D’Oro” international singing competion produced by PanamusicRecords to the younger music competion “Miros Festival” in which he wins the award for the Best Interpretation, singing with the singer Sofia Cannata). He likes also to act in theatres and squares participating with differents theatre’s Associations to the realization of sicilian Comedy of N. Martoglio, L. Pirandello e S. Savarino. Consolidated in both fields, music and theatre, he enters in M.A.S.T. Association in which he takes part to the acting and singing stages "Ma cosa vuoi che sia", led by M. Salfi (pianist and writer), F. Lazzaro (arranger), B. Ceglie (theatre’s and tv’s actress, theatre director and organizer of cultural events), R. Limoli (teacher of marchial arts), E. Di Grandi (producer), A. Barbagallo (journalist), G. Milone (writer), E. Raimondo (costume designer), M. C. Spartà (costume designer), G. Di Salvo (costume designer), T. Ranno (producer), G. Scarcipino Pattarello (actress, dancer and coreographer), I. Balcone (singing teacher) since March 2004 to December 2005 for the realization of the musical tragedy Ma cosa vuoi che sia (written by M. Salfi and inspired by the G. Verga’s novel La Lupa). Music and poetry are strictly connected, for this reason Angelo takes part to the important and prestigious Literary Award “Dacia Maraini”, awarding the first prizes. At the same time he starts to work in differents pubs and restaurants such as Pianobar’s singer, working with musical partners with amazing voices like Andreazzurra Gullotta, Italian X-Factor’s participant, and Sofia Cannata. To improve his knowledge in show business’ world he decides to undertake Disneyland Paris’ adventure. He lives in the romantic french city busily participating to the realization of Disney Dream (in a world of Parades, Shows, High School Musical and Magic). This adventure improves his knowledge in foreign languages (English, French, Spanish and German) and adds to his musical baggage something totally unique. After 9 months he comes back to Sicily waiting to call attention to someone realizing his dream, a record contract and music for life… In September 2008 he wins with Sofia Cannata the prize of the criticism in "Miros Festival" (prize delivered by Roberto Pregadio, famous chef of orchestra of tv program of Canale5 "La Corrida"). A few months later, in December, he participates in the "Festival Città di Mascalucia" classifying himself to the first place, rewarded by the singer Antonella Arancio (legionary from different editions of the Festival of Sanremo). In 2009 he wins two prizes, in March "Star Song Festival" with Sofia Cannata (on Sky-PlayTv) and in August the "Lennon Festival" with Andreazzurra (in the jury: Sugarfrees, Gatto Panceri and Michael Allen).
