The Blair Mills Project currently consists of a guitar duo: James Mills and Zander Blair that produce intriguing depths of musical complexity and taste. Their sound is based on stretching the boundaries of modern day genres such as Rock, Jazz, Funk and Blues with perhaps a sprinkling of Humour!
James and Zander both met at the International Guitar Festival at Bath Spa University in 2007 where they both shared a love for the guitar, altered harmony and pizza! Both share similar influences, such as Greg Howe, Tribal Tech, Allan Holdsworth, John Scofield, Brett Garsed, Frank Gambale, Shawn Lane and of course.... THE BRECKER BROTHERS!
Their time at the IGF in 2007 and recently in August 2008 saw many an evening jam session in the student union with blazing be-bop lines and tasteful chromatic melody played through extraordinary chord progressions and modal vamps but still retaining "listenability"! Not to mention the ridiculous amount of false fingering!
The band does have a major obstacle in the way which is that Zander lives in York and James resides in cider drinking Somerset! Therefore the band resorts to writing, arranging and recording by e-mail!
