i'll try anything that won't seriously, or over time, injure me or prematurely age me (i don't mind cuts, bruises & being sore), and anything that won't get me in serious trouble or make me feel negative (guilty, less than who i am, like i'm contributing to the tearing down of anyone else).i'm a daredevil with a brain, a go-getter with a heart. love physical activity, love mental challenge, love fun, love building others up, entertainment, sports, classy soirees, ghetto clubs, opera to the discount movies, classical music to underground hip hop, elegant expensive dinners to spam on a fork. [lol] set the atmosphere, though, always show respect and be appropriate to the situation.I love information and discussion. So, for most of you, I talk too much. ;)ps -- when it comes to entertainment & people i LOVE creativity, and the boldness to be different, real and true. i love people, but those who do it fareal like andre 3000, cee-lo, e. badu, jill scott, dennis rodman, prince, pink, c. aguilera, missy, tlc, a. jolie, etc.: they make my eyes light up a lil bit when they enter the scene. they don't have to be out there or soft, or even doing something that specifically appeals to me; they just have to be true to themselves. just a thought.
Real people who aren't trying to MAKE relationships happen.
Ladies: we will not automatically be best friends cuz we're both cute or we have some things in common. Gentlemen: can we figure out whether we even like each other or are compatible? Everyone: letting relationships evolve alleviates a lot of unnecessary stress and lessens drama. PLEASE BELIEVE. Be true -- looks don't keep things peachy keen, and often CREATE insecurities and a false sense of confidence; having things in common does not equal compatability; allowing something to just "be" allows you to see what's real and make better decisions. chill out.
for those who something does evolve with: be cool. ;)
FRIENDS: old ones are good to go. new ones -- there's a level of realness you need with me regardless of your other personality traits. RELATIONSHIPS: men like my ex who is still in love with me and talks to his new girl openly, honestly and respectfully about me and vice versa (because she wants to know and we're the type of chicks who can handle his reality); men like my godfather and my brother james -- indescribably God-fearing and therefore almost unbelievably good men; men like marcus who care more about us all having fun and keeping it real than whatever else; men like the homie who i won't name cuz i didn't ask if i could quote him in saying, "Shea honestly you are the most beautiful woman I have ever met. Yes physically you are beautiful no doubt but your beauty runs so deep it's crazy. The man who you end up with will have to appreciate you on all levels. Honestly when we went to San Jose and hung out I was caught completely off guard. Because you have this air about you that is so rare. You fit the prifile of a trophy wife until you open your mouth. You are so real...and honest and insightful. So your pool of men is narrowed down to even smaller than the average beautiful woman has." darren, who's down right now, who showed me how it should feel when someone's really into you -- regardless of how tough of a cookie i am; philip (the ex above) and michael (the first love) who taught me about what really feeling like being one with someone was -- as human beings and as partners before even going as deep in love as we did. ...the thing that allowed for such open and straightforward honesty no matter what ...and that which i now long for. douglas who at least attempted to grow and learn, even though it was brand new territory for him; b who was the most sincere man i ever met; and donte who passionately wanted to be anything but disrespectful.
i hope i learned, am learning, and continue to learn the lessons needed with each of these ....

"There are things that music can do that language could never do, that painting can never do, or sculpture. Music is capable of going directly to the source of the mystery. It doesn't have to explain it. It can simply celebrate it."Marsha Norman
favorites: the devil wears prada was GORGEOUS; austin powers 2; a christmas carol; gothika; the color purple; john q -- don't get to watch many. i'm sure there are a bunch more, but... ...hotel rwanda, crash, immitation of life, four brothers, the others, the rock, the league of intelligent gentlemen (is that the title?), the count of monte cristo [i'm the countess lol]...
very edifying shows for me right now are: my wife and kids, girlfriends, the game. just fell in love with grey's anatomy, desperate housewives, brothers & sisters. i love project runway and what not to wear. like extreme home makeover, inside the actor's studio. it's so sweet to watch sex and the city.
the bible; the power of focus; the little prince; rich dad, poor dad; billy; ellen degeneres' first book (don't remember the name of it - first book i ever read in a few days, it was so funny to me); the purpose-driven life; their eyes were watching God; Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul; currently reading COVENANT (www.covenantwithblackamerica.com)
every single person on the planet teaches me something. i am a result of all who have had anything to do with me. real heroes are the people who do what they're led (within themselves) to do as opposed to what everyone says is cool or is easy to do. it takes power, courage and true identity to not do what the general masses will automatically cheer. ("Automatically" is an operative word here -- because the masses usually will still cheer when you do that other thing that the popular people are not doing, it will just not be automatic, it will be because they actually see value in the action.) seal, the singer, after hearing him speak about marriage & life on oprah -- need that for my man :).
