Lexx Diirty (Alex Gonzaga) and V.Go (Frank Vego) knew of each other as they played baseball at a young age, but did not really become friends until their junior year of High School. They created the group known as "The Slackerz", consisting of Lexx, V.Go and one time rapper, Heisman. They had a long road ahead and group problems started early. Conflict between two of the members caused a split, so Lexx and V.Go went solo while Heisman pursued a career in the Pizza Making industry.
Time went on and they decided to give it another chance. Lexx got to a point in which material started feelin forced, boring. He was sitting in the studio with associate Purple Ice and began thinking of why he was even in the studio. Rapping was a joint venture that was pursued by friends to have fun and it turned into a popularity contest. Lexx called V.Go later that day and extended an offer of getting back together with a group name already in mind, Misguided Youth AKA The M.Y. V.Go was on board immediately and had actually pitched the idea early .. the group break-up.
Lexx and V.Go began group work late in 2008, with their first song "That's ALL I'm Hearing", telling the tale of a rap scene that has become all too predictable and boring. With their obvious disdain for the typical rap music out, they would never come at their fans with a club song about mixed drinks and scantily-clad women..or would they? "Kryptonite" drops as song two, an ode to drinks in red plastic cups that could contain any number of alcoholic beverages. Hip-Hop has many elements, from dancing and partying, to social consciousness and global awareness. A careful balance is necessary and can possibly be the key to reuniting both sides of the hip-hop scene. Without getting cliche, 2Pac put out songs such as Changes and Dear Mamma, as well as California Love and I Don't Give A Fuck.
Some people believe that you will upset your core group of fans if you go outside of one kind of rap. But no one has a one-sided personality, not even fans. So we, as fans of Hip-Hop need to open our minds to all pieces of the puzzle, all sides of this wonderful form of expression we were given to utilize. Take it all in, learn from it, and do not be afraid to admit that you enjoy getting in the club just as much as you like to reminisce over past memories that old school hip-hop brings to you. WE HAVE MANY DIMENSIONS. USE THEM ALL!!!!!
The M.Y. is working very hard on trying to get out new music but with Lexx currently attending College in Hayward and V.Go currently working and going to College elsewhere, it is not that easy! But with the music they do have, they are making their mark in the music world and will not go away anytime soon!
