The Cranberries

Irish alternative rock band. The Cranberries was founded by brothers Noel and Mike Hogan, drummer Fergal Lawler, and frontman Niall Quinn in 1990. Quinn left the band early on and was replaced by Dolores O’Riordan. All of the band members were in their teens when they recorded a demo tape and shopped it around to local record stores near their hometown of Limerick, Ireland.The homemade demo tape caught the attention of record executives, and after a bit of a bidding war, The Cranberries were signed by Island Records. Their debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, was released in 1993.Subsequent albums include No Need to Argue, To the Faithful Departed, Bury the Hatchet, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee.In September 2003, despite working on a new album,the Cranberries announced they were taking some time to pursue individual careers.In 2004, The Cranberries announced they were going on hiatus.Since 2004 Dolores O'Riordan has been collaborating on a number of musical projects, before launching her solo career with the album Are You Listening? in 2007. Noel Hogan started a new project called mono band, whose first full-length self-titled album saw a limited release in 2005.
