In 2006, a group of friends journeyed to Comic-Con San Diego. They came garbed as the greatest pantheons spawned by the twentieth century, the superheroes of DC Comics. But what started as a fun way to enhance the CCI experience turned into something greater. After receiving a vast amount of support of both Comic-Con attendees and professionals alike, the group expanded into a full blown Justice League at Comic-Con 2007. With over twelve people on the roster, the league of costumed attendees grew to epic proportions. Receiving praise from professionals such as Dan DiDio, executive editor of DC Comics, as well as Billy West, Brad Meltzer, Grant Morrison, Mark Waid, and Greg Grunberg of Heroes, the group of faux pantheons fell in love with the costuming experience. Appearing in TV Guide, Showtime, Fox News, the San Diego Tribune, Game Tap, DC Comics, Wonder Women of America and many more media outlets, the League is slowly making a name for itself in the cosplay underground. With Comic-Con 2008 now just a fond memory, the pulp pantheons hope to expand the roster of the league even further next year.
