Hipposonic Studios has been recording and mixing great music since 1990, when it was founded by Rob Darch . We have enjoyed a wide variety of artists, engineers and producers who have passed through our doors, and continue to do so today.
Well known for our comfortable, relaxed vibe, Hipposonic also offers top quality equipment and service. We have two SSL mixing rooms, each equipped with an isolation booth for overdubbing, and an impressive arsenal of outboard gear and microphones. We are located close to Downtown Vancouver as well as an extensive variety of restaurants and other amenities.
In late 2003 it was announced that the Kitsilano building, home to Hipposonic and many other studios throughout Vancouver's history, was scheduled for tear down and destined to become condominiums. Hipposonic quickly found a new location in the False Creek area and we began to rebuild our studio under the guidance of world-renowned studio designer, John Vrtacic . We're extremely happy with our new home and are continuing to help people make great music in this great city!!
In 2006 we will be expanding our facilities to include what will formerly be known as Mushroom Studios . The facility has a long and extensive history (including something about a ghost) and an amazing list of albums it has helped to create over the years. We are very happy to have a part in keeping this historical building a part of the Vancouver music scene, as well as adding our own "Hippo" touches.
