Our Dark Horse

About Me

Our Dark Horse is a type of remnant that can result from the gravitational collapse of a massive star during a Type II, Type Ib or Type Ic supernova event. Resulting songs are composed almost entirely of neutrons, which are subatomic particles with zero electrical charge and roughly the same mass as protons. These songs are supported against further collapse because of the Pauli exclusion principle. This principle requires that no two neutrons can occupy the same quantum state simultaneously.
A typical song has a mass between 1.35 and about 2.1 solar masses, with a corresponding radius between 20 and 10 km, respectively—in contrast, the Sun is 30,000 to 70,000 times larger. Thus, average songs have overall densities of 8.4 × 1016 to 1 × 1018 kg/m³, which compares with the approximate density of an atomic nucleus of 3 × 1017 kg/m³. The song's density varies from below 1 × 109 kg/m³ in the crust increasing with depth to above 6 or 8 × 1017 kg/m³ deeper inside.
In general, compact songs of less than 1.38 solar masses, the Chandrasekhar limit, are white dwarfs; above 2 to 3 solar masses (the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff limit), a quark song might be created, however this is uncertain. Gravitational collapse will always occur on any song over 5 solar masses, inevitably producing a black hole.

"Spiritualized'a bakinirken bisey dikkatimi çekti. Myspacelerinde arkadas listelerinde ilk sirada bu gruba rastladim. Ilgimi çekti. Mesela last.fmde pek taninmiyorlar. Hani pek taninmayan seyleri nasil olsa kimse bilmiyor diye yüceltip bilmislik taslama hali var ya, iste tam onun için uygun bir grup aslinda. Nasil gözden kaçirilmis da kimse görmemis anlamadim. Bu konu kötü yerlere gider, ben gereginden fazla patlarim, konu grup tanitimindan çikar insanlara çemkirmeye dönüsür, susayim en iyisi. Sevecek insanlar vardir. Experimental tam olarak. Amerikali arkadaslar. Renkleri hosuma gitti. Ama oturup da dinleyemem. Sikiliyorum bir süre sonra experimentaldan. Tanitim falan yok. Yeter bu kadar. Arastirasim yok. Spiritualized'in hatirina iste. Buyurun bakin dilerseniz. Sinirlendim." [ Link Here ]

"I had the incredible pleasure of wrapping myself in music a few months ago. There are few bands that have the capacity to allow me to examine my own existence. Our Dark Horse is one of them. I don’t mean to imply that I was left questioning my fate, or destiny, or even my religion. I was left wondering what it was that sustained me during that performance. It is an extremely spiritual experience to listen to true musicians creating a melody that somehow opens a door of communication to something greater than myself. The constant beat of the base drum was parallel to the beating of my own heart. It was as if the beat came alive and with every down beat ceremoniously pumped my heart in the palm of its hand. I didn’t know if there was blood pumping through my veins or if it was purely the music that was sustaining my life. When every song finished I felt as though I was left gasping for breath, left craving another melody simply so I could feel like I was alive." [ Link Here ]

Sounds Like: the clouds came crashing down in a million little pieces and wiped away the fear of all the creatures in the woods that tonight may be the last night of life.
