I studied architecture in Patras a few years ago and I started learning how to play the bass when I was 19 while being a uni student.I attended lessons for about 8 months at the demotic music school of Patras. Unfortunately, I had to study for the uni and work at the same time, so I didnt' have enough time to practice at home.So I quit attending lessons after 8 motnhs. While going to music school, I made the first effort to make a band, something that was a dream since the age of 14. I met 2 girls who went to the same music school, Helen [drums] and Afrodite [semi acoustic guitar]. We tried to play together, but we didn't match so we screwed the project. After that, my first real touch with a band was with some guys from Patra too, with who we played Greek Rock and Hard Rock/Metal renditions. I left the band because I couldn't follow their programm. After that, I participated in 2 projects. The one was indeed 4 different projects, playing with members of other bands from the University's Music team [Politistikes Omades].That was all about "POZEROMERA" which was my fist live concert.I played the bass in 2 songs and sung 2 others. The other project was with Sotiris Ntouvas, Giorgos Fillipopoulos and another guy [sorry I don't remember his name!!] the SPEEDY GONZALES QUARTET.We were prepared to play 4 songs for the music school's concert/demonstration at the Castle of Patras - some Yngwie Malmsteen stuff. It was my first "formal" concert. In the fall of 2002 I was determined to continue playing, even though I quit attending lessons. Some friends called me to play with them in a new band that they made, called "THE BAMBOOLAS", playing Rock n Roll.We wrote some songs of our own and gave only one concert. After the concert I quit the band for personal reasons and the band split. At the same time, I made my first own band, called "THE SERIAL SLUCKERS".We were 3 close friends [Me/vocals-Pascal/bass-Microchip/guitar] who called a Helias/drums and decided to give only one concert, playing some renditions of our favorite alternative rock songs. After that the band split.Right after the end of "The Serial Sluckers" I decided to continue to something different with Pascal. We formed a nu metal project, "LEFT BEHIND".We called Thymios to play the drums and Allan to play the guitar.I was supposed to be the vocalist and Pascal on the bass.We jammed for 3-4 months, but couldn't get to anything serious, so we split around early summer of 2003.A few months later [autumn of 2003] a new formed black/death metal/gothic band called me to play the bass. The were "DASK" www.myspace.com/daskband
and some of them were already friends of mine [the drummer was/is my boyfriend, Tho/drums www.myspace.com/thodorakos, Unholy Throne,Cyb Slavior, Reek Of Putrefaction, Nekyia, Project Havoc, Miasma 3263, the Anal treatment XXX-perience and many others...].We played together for almost a year, we gave 3 concerts, we made the demo "Requiem For The Fallen", and then I left the band because of some band arguements. After that the band split. A couple of months later, I met Klearxos, who had an idea about a Hard Rock/Metal band, "ANELIXIS" www.myspace.com/anelixis. We played toghether with 2 other guys and Klearxos was the song writer. We gave one concert together.Unfortunately 4 months after that concert I had to move back to Athens, so I left the band, which still exists and performs, with Klearxos as a leader and some new members. Two years passed and I was inactive, because of my preparation for my Diploma Thesis. After taking my diploma I decided to make a new music start, and look for some band. I answered to an ad from the yellow pages, where a guy was looking for a bass player for an alternative rock band. After a few months and some phone calls, he called me to play in the band. The band was called "JOY?" and was formed by Panos Anestopoulos-vocals/guitar, Nikos Xatzopoulos-drums [former Closer member] and me-bass. We played together for about 3-4 months, and then realised that there was not any chemistry between us. Panos called 2 girls, Katerina Panopoulou & Gina Dimakopoulou to come and play with us.This led to nothing.I had already taken my decision to leave the band when Katerina and Gina proposed to me and Nikos to join their band [they were looking for a bass player and a drummer]. They Were "GARBO" and played alternative/indie rock. There was a really good chemistry between us and things really moved on very quickly. We changed the name from Garbo to "KATRIN THE THRILL" www.myspace.com/katrinthethrill and that was it. I played with them since Apr.2007 untill Oct.2008 and we gave several concerts. The funny thing with this band is that their former bass player was a girl I knew since when I was a student in Patras, that was Marilou aka Christabel Etheriel [Drama Queen's vocalist]!
As a parenthesis to that, and to have some fun with my friends, I participated as a guest in 2 gigs of "MIASMA3263" [@ AN Club/Athens & 8Ball Club/Thessaloniki] in the spring of 2008.That was really funny because it was a surprise to half of the band members!
Early summer of 2008 Marilou [vocals-guitar] proposed to me to help her out with her project "CHRISTABEL ETHERIEL" www.myspace.com/christabeletheriel, along with Vasso [cello] [Playskool] and we have ginen 2 concerts so far: one at the 2008's Antiracistic Festival, at Pedion Tou Areos and another at the Playhouse Gothique [Nov.2008] @ 8 Dytika stage. At the same time, I had already met Panos [Echo Tattoo's guitarist], who had his own project, "APAGOREYMENO DASOS" www.myspace.com/apagoreumenodasos, something like Psychedelic Rock with greek lyrics. He proposed me to join the project along with Nikos/guitar[MrCantfind] and Dimosthenis/drums [Drama Queen, former In Most Ego & PA.T.H. member].We made one live appearance at Lela's Karagianni Park [Feb, 6th, 2009] protesting against the demolition of the park by the government.
In parallel I plan to create a new project of my own, an alternative one, with Microchip and Christabel Etheriel, but we are still working on that. That's "LICKIN PUPPY" and it will start when the time is right for us...but unfortunately free time is hard to find!
THAT is my "music story" so far...I think I used to be a better bass player while I used to take lessons, but I have just recently realised what really is that that I am playing... I hope you enjoy. :)
