Aims: -Institutional and individual capacity building. -Empowering people to make positive change in society,in terms of political,economical,social, cultural,and health development. –Local,regional,and international networking in support of women,youth,and world peace issues. –Encouraging human principles and religious values as a mean to promote dialogue within and among communities and societies. –Organizing and coordinating firm voluntry work to serve and advance society.
Approach:
WE Center has structured its activities based on 5 focal areas of interest: 1) Gender:The Center conducts studies and periodical reports,and works to raise awareness on gender,as well as promoting gender equality. 2) Development of human resources and advocacy campaigns:The Center provides institutions and individuals with capacity building skills through training, including leadership, management, and basic life skills, as a mean to developing human resources.The Center’s advocacy campaigns organize and prepare creative strategic plans for issues of development. 3) Dialogue and international peace: The Center promots, calls for, and encourages dialogue, and cultural and human diversity. 4) Human security: The Center concentrates on monitoring and observing human secrity violations and gaps in Jordan.Then moves to establish projects and creative initiatives to correct violations and fill up gaps in the areas of economic,food,health,environmental,personal,community,and political security. 5) Volunteerism: The Center focuses on supporting youth volunteers and provides them with full independence in order to carry out voluntary works in their communities.The Center also advocates the institutionalization of voluntary work in civil society organizations.
Programs/activities
-Studying gender analysis at the Ministry of Labor(MOL):
A baseline study of gender politics at MOL, and to what extend MOL takes into consideration women special needs and interests. -Christian-Islamic conformity pamphlet: A booklet that shows similarities between Christianity and Islam,in order to promote understanding and dialogue. -Volunteerism: Toward a stronger civil society project:
Training 24 leaders from 12 CSOs on volunteers recruitment, action plans development, and organizational structuring, to promote volunteerism. -Advocacy plan to overcome violence against women:The plan was designed for the Family Protection Team,and the National Council for Family Affairs,identifying the most important issues relating to violence against women,and gaining decision makers support to develop activities,making ending violence against women a priority.
-The youth volunteers for securing family – Jordanian-Danish youth exchange:
Cooperating with Save the Children Youth Denmark on youth exchange, focusing on advocacy for combating domestic violence.
-Awareness campaign against AIDS:
Holding a bike rally to raise awareness about AIDS, and focusing in particular on media to increase understanding of AIDS.
