Miriam Pico was born in 1983 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, and has lived in Northern Michigan since the age of three. Over thirteen years of stage experience have shaped this guitar playing singer/songwriter into a seasoned perfomer, with a reputation for putting on an amazing, dynamic show. She began writing songs at age ten, and began singing professionally at age eleven at local functions, including church, sporting events, weddings, fundraisers and talent shows. In the past seven years, Miriam has written approximately three hundred songs, seventeen of which have been recorded at Frontier Recording in Copemish, Michigan.
Her music has been classified as "singer/songwriter/pop" in the vein of Colbie Caillat and Eva Cassidy. Her style of songwriting has proven to be a crowd pleaser regardless of who she is performing for, and her smooth vocal sound is top-notch.
Miriam is currently at work on a much anticipated jazz album with acclaimed pianist and friend, David Chown. David accompanied Miriam on her 2007 national Kawai's Searching for a Star competition-winning song, Gershwin's "Someone to Watch Over Me". Miriam won 1st place in the adult vocal category, and was chosen out of thousands of entries from the U.S. and Canada.
In the spring of 2005, Miriam's original song, "She Waits" was chosen by 97.5 WKLT to appear on a compilation c.d. entitled "Northern Michigan Rocks" Volume 5. Miriam and her band, which included brother Cris Pico on the drums, won 1st place in the Battle of the Bands competition between the artists featured on that album. Her music has been highly acclaimed ever since.
Her song "Tangled" was chosen to appear in a short film of the same name by a young New york City filmmaker, and in March 2006 she was voted "Best Solo Performer" by the readers of the Northern Express. She is a key vocalist on the worship team at Bay Pointe Community Church.
