Hi!Billie Jean here! I'm 17 years old. I was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and raised in Stilwell, OK. I'm Cherokee and my family is of the Wolf clan. I started singing in preschool as many kids do but my mother noticed I had a special skill of memorizing song lyrics. When I was about 7-8, I got my first trophy at the school talent show. I sang "Oklahoma". I've been singing every since. Through the years I've continued beating the path of the talent show circuit. I often compete against a lot of the same talents across Oklahoma and Arkansas. Stilwell is located in Northeastern Oklahoma near the Ark/OK state line. Checotah, OK is just down the road so many of the stages I've been on are the same stages that Carrie Underwood sang .. she went to American Idol. She also sang on the bandstand here in Stilwell during the Strawberry Festival before she became famous. I love the songwriting skills of Hilary Lindsey, Luke Laird and now Carrie Underwood. Since co-writing my first song, I really appreciate and pay attention to the songwriters of songs that I love. It's true that many songwriters don't get the attention they deserve. I've found that the greatest satisfaction from songwriting is experiencing the development of a song from its concept to the final product. My first original song "Who's that Cherokee Girl" is about a girl growing up among youth who are confused about Native Pride. By allowing Jesus to guide me I've been able to stay focused on my dreams. What am I doing right now? ...working on new songs to make a complete cd and working on my guitar playing skills. I record at Omega Sound in Fort Smith, AR. Jason Johnson played guitar for "Who's that Cherokee Girl" and produced the song. He is super intelligent and super talented. Most importantly he is a nice guy and a perfectionist so he does his best to give you the best of his work. My goal for next spring is to visit, or hopefully, perform at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. Barbara Cloyd is the greatest! She did a critique of my song and the best part of it was that she "got it". She totally understood the message and appreciated it. Her service is worth far more than what she charges. She also does songwriters workshops all over. You can go to her website and find sooooo much that she can do for songwriters. What are my hobbies? I love horsebackriding. I hope to ride my horse during the Cherokee National Holiday over Labor Day weekend. I'm the 2008-09 Bell Pow Wow Princess. The pic next to my song was taken just after I was crowned. I'm also an SHS cheerleader and on the dance team. I'm youth songleader for Rock Fence Church here in Stilwell. I perform in a monthly variety show at the Roxy Theatre in Muskogee, Oklahoma. So anyway.......staying busy. Thanks for visiting my music page and for listening to my songs. Billie Jean
