The Funeral Serpent was formed Feb. 2008 by frontman Paul Sanchez of the band Nihilistic Outlaw: Criminal Order/FleshEater/Amon's Master/Teethnasher/etc. The origin of The Funeral Serpent came to be when Paul decided to leave his pervious doom/death/thrash metal band Chamber Of Sorrow.That recorded 2 demos from 2006-7 Paul decided to leave Chamber Of Sorrow due the changes within the band and Paul wanted to write/create slower, doomier and sludger sounds. So he formed The Funeral Serpent in mind (which was a songtitle for CoS called The Funeral And The Serpent that was never recorded). Paul was going to use the singer of another local band (GoS) soon Paul realized the singer was selfish, unreliable and immature for his new band and musicial vision. So Paul decided to keep going, taking over the vocal duties and well playing drums. With help from numerous friends whom believe in Paul's musical creativity.
So Paul formed this band for his love for dooom death metal and stoner rock bands or doom masters like Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Saint Vitus, Paradise Lost, Trouble, Internal Void, SpaceBoy, CandleMass, Confessor, Winter, Blue Cheer, Iron Man, The Obsessed, Revelation, Sour Vein, Dream Death, Fu Manchu, The Melvins, EyeHateGod, Womb, Man Is The Bastard, Pain Eater, Crowbar, 13, Electric Wizard, Society's Burden, My Dying Bride and Cathedral plus current uprising dooom slayers like Blood Ov..., Stoner Witch, HEFE/Slo-bula(rip), GoatSnake, Noothgrush, Brown Jenkins, Jail, Chruch Of Misery, Sunno))), Earthride, The Kybosh/Sea Of Green, War Horse, Hangnail, The Dead See and many great obscure doomized bands from all over the world. The Funeral Serpent is nothing like any bands he formed or been in. Paul wanted to go gloomier and doomier scene where music is judge on dedication and love for the sadness of emotional creativity. This band is going to be slow heavy dooom and very deathly vocals with black metal shrieks.
The band will consists of various members from bands like Self-Hatred, NxOxCxOx, Judas Goat, Lithium Rising, Southern Discomfort, Citizen Idiot, HEFE, Drunkzilla, Chamber Of Sorrow, Dread, Substance Abuse, Amon's Master, Flesh Eater, Yell, Stoner Witch, Religious Vomit, Ritual Autopsy, A Band Of Terrorists and Spoiled Humanic Waste. Helping Paul establish the sound he is looking for. Unlike many great bands in the west texas scene like doomcrust heroes The Dead See and Deloroes (rip) and the mighty and missed Slo-bula (rip). Paul is trying to follow their paths of doom but with a different approach. These bands for being local influenced Paul alot to follow his dream and vision to create a darker doom metal band. That is the history of the formation of The Funeral Serpent. A 4 song demo will be unleashed to the masses soon. With all members mention above helping Paul with their talents and trade of musical instruments of destruction to play Doom upon releasing future demos with him. Paul believes this band will the help with these great talented musicians that they can accomplish the vision of the doomed. Paul plans to release 4 or 5 more demos in the near future til he finds suitable members but right now all the musicians who are going to put time and effort are members of the The Funeral Serpent. The Funeral Serpent is here to create some of the slowest, heaviest, longest doom metal riffing around in the west Texas scene. So keep your eyes open for this band. With so many different members in the near future to share their misery as well sorrows. Paul and The Funeral Serpent is here to create slow dreadful doom metal. Curse those who desire to mourn the life of death's denial.
