In all the streets of Philadelphia, on Pine Street and west of it, there live two girls, in a small cluttered ol' apartment, with guinea pigs and all, and lemons all around. You see, these girls realized early that they could do a lot with only a little, that strength can't be bought, that love lies in an honest heart, that true fun is sober (still debating this one), and that you can do a lot with lemons. These became their treasures.
Melodically swooning the crowd, The Lemon Treasures are a girl duet pop group from Philadelphia who aim to get the black-haired creep in the corner to smirk. Their music has been desribed by audiences as "fun, delightful, beautiful music." The girls, Elizabeth and Elizabeth, mix their performances with original music, audience diaologue, and shiny surprises. Bouncing around stage and having fun is what their known to do, but they also know how and when to whip out the heartbreaker songs that ring our their girlish boy-woes on a dramatic A minor chord. Each of their songs might sound as if they revolve around a different genre, whether it be: the roaring twenties, 50s doo-wop, mild burlesque or campy sing-alongs, but there is no denying their genuiness and innocence to get the crowd feeling some sort of magic - even if it's voodoo - which the girls practice daily ... just kidding ... but not really.
The girls have just completed their first EP "Mama Bear" (available when you go to their show), and are currently working on new material and new moves. Elizabeth America Vega (vocalist, harmonica and accordion) is currently going to school for printmaking and Elizbeth Knauss (vocalist, guitar) is actively working as a graphic and web designer. The two formed the band by accident in the Fall of 2008 when Elizabeth wrote a song while the other Elizabeth was in the bathroom. When she finished up her 'business' she helped Elizabeth finish the song, and it's been beautiful music since. The name Lemon Treasures revolves around the theme that 'you can do SO much with so little.' Lemon is a significant metaphor for an undiscovered treasure, waiting to be peeled. Once you realize how much you can accomplish with your surrounding tools, your giving environment, and your inner strength, there is no need to search and therefore happiness has delivered itself upon your heart. Basically, if you go to a Lemon Treasures' show you will discover the meaning of life.
