Growing up in Sothern California at the dawn of the Hip Hop era DJ SugaShane found himself embracing this new culture and all it had to offer. He devoted most of his spare time honing his skills as a B-Boy. From breaking to graffiti art it all became his passion.
After discovering his love for music at an early age DJ SugaShane quickly found himself making the transition to DJ. Together with a group of friends Shane started DJing school dances and private parties with equipment they all pitched in to purchase. Slowly they started gaining popularity as local DJ’s and spread out to other area schools and guest spots at local nightclubs. After moving from the west coast to New England during his Junior year of high school it became evident that DJing was something he couldn’t leave behind. Using rented equipment he began booking local gigs and saving the profit to buy his own. Shane also landed a Hip Hop radio show on the high schools radio station. After High school Shane landed his first paying gig at a nightclub his cousin opened, from there he was recruited to the local hot spot Champions where he held residency for 8 years. It was there that he gained some local popularity as people traveled from all over Maine each and every Wednesday night. As his reputation grew, so did the demand for bookings. Soon clubs in the Portland area were recruiting him, causing him to migrate to the southern part of the state. By the late 90’s he had held residency in almost every major city in the state. Eventually his bookings took him into New Hampshire where he decided to make his home. Along with JAMN 94.5 he helped put Inferno Nightclub on the map pulling in crowds upwards of 600 people weekly. From there Shane made the move to Plum Crazy, arguably the hottest nightclub to EVER hit New Hampshire. Here he held residency, as well as title of Assistant General Manager for 3 years. Together with the club owner Sanford Wallace and new found friends and co-workers DJ Biggie (General Manager)& DJ Pez (resident DJ) they had New Hampshire in the palm of their hands. The pinnacle of Shanes career came in the form of a summer spent DJing in Las Vegas at OPM in Caesars Palace. “Nothing compares to the Las Vegas lifestyle…..I could really get used to it out there…†Currently SugaShane holds residencies at The Gaslight, Portsmouth, NH, Club 313, Manchester, NH, Club Electra, West Lebanon, NH and Tabu, Saugus, MA, Making a career out of DJing he’s done everything from school dances to weddings & private parties. He even found himself dabbling in the underground Rave scene in the late 90’s, early 2000’s. Along the way he’s also opened up for such hip hop acts as De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC, Sugar Hill Gang & Grandmaster Melle Mel.
Today Shane continues to give his dance floor what it’s looking for. With his unique style of mixing and ability to read the crowd DJ SugaShane has taken the scene by storm, always keeping the dance floor jumping and leaving them wanting more. From the hottest tracks out to a lesson in Hip Hop 101 to disco & mash-ups you NEVER know what you might get with SugaShane at the helm but rest assured, he’ll keep you moving!!! Looking forward to the future Shane looks to take his career to the next level, he plans to continue booking clubs across ..the country and gain more and more exposure along the way. Currently he and DJ Biggie work on producing their “Drama Squad†Mix CD’s….bringing a unique mix of the hottest club bangaz, remixes and blends along with some old school classics, a sneak peek into what you’d hear on their dance floors on any given night.
