Iceland’s biggest and most innovative music festival, Iceland Airwaves, celebrates its 10th anniversary with an all-day extravaganza of cutting-edge music and culture on Friday 19th September in London, featuring some of the world’s hottest breaking bands and DJ’s.
The inaugural London Airwaves festival will be spread across eight venues in East London and will showcase some of the finest international bands around, including The Whip, The Teenagers, The Young Knives, Florence and the Machine and Metronomy.
Iceland Airwaves, an integral part of the cultural life of Reykjavik, has been running for ten years and has featured everyone from The Klaxons, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs and Hot Chip to The Kills, Fatboy Slim and home-grown talent Sigur Ros.
Set in one of the capital’s most creative districts and using the East End’s favourite hang outs as a platform, all of the venues will be given over to London Airwaves so that anyone with a wristband will be able to move freely between them – taking in their favourite bands and DJ’s in everywhere from bars to clubs and even an old warehouse.
There will also be surprise special guest appearances; these exclusive shows are guaranteed to generate a rush of excitement (and people) and will be kept secret until the day of the festival.
The first ever London Airwaves festival will be a truly international experience at a fraction of the cost of a normal festival and right in the heart of the Capital. Due to capacity restrictions, tickets are limited but a special early bird price of £20 is available.
