Brontosaurus is a collective group based in San Francisco and the East bay, comprised of a far- reaching, eclectic and talented group of fine upstanding young gentlemen who are musically inclined.

Started as an experimental side project by guitarist Kris Jensen, who had lots of musical ideas, and is an accomplished mosaic artist, and Jim Greer, a producer, bass guitar and songwriter who has worked with a wide variety of artist including Rondo Brothers, Galactic, Handsome boy modeling school, Crudo and many more. Jim and Kris started working on songs in between their other various projects, and as the songs developed, they realized they were onto an inventive, genre breaking sound, reminiscent of Wilco, Stephen Malkmus, Tommy Guerrero and other experimental rock bands.

When more personnel was needed, they enlisted singer/songwriter Matt Langlois, known for his band the “Welcome Matt”, to come up with vocals for most of the new tracks and guitar. tim Carter, who has played drums for various Dan the Automator, projects as well the Uptones and the Rondo Brothers plays drums and percussion in the project. Pat Kelly of Powder Wheel & Splatt Also contributed vocals on this album along with other guest musicians.

The band released their first album in 2005 and played a variety of shows around the bay area, and embarked on a second album late in 2007 which is now due to arrive in the fall of 2008. The new album “ Life Stars” was recorded in Casper CA at producer Bill Bottrell’s old studio. A batch of songs that combines the pop energy and sounds of bands like the Gorillaz, the Clash, and Tom petty, Pink Floyd and Tom Waits. the record is spontaneous and loose, and sounds like good old fashioned indy rock made by a group of friends who don’t take themselves too seriously but have some serious talent.

Also included on the new album “Life Stars” is a remix from legendary producer Dan the Automator, an inventive take on a song called “raise up your eyes” with guest appearance form “Tajai” from the bay area group the Hieroglyphics. Tajai also appears on the song “ Weatherman”.
