The essence of life = Fortune, Love & Health. Certainly it can be extended and probably it will have to be. Especially if U ask Malik & Zan.
Their elixir is plain and simply = Music.
Neither of them can think of a point in his life in which it hasn’t been like that. To them, Love and Fortune are in any case connected to music. Some of their former liasions can write a book about this.
On their first get-together at the tender age of 12 it became clear, what will eminently incorporate them to one another in the upcoming years – their musical passion. Even back then they spent hours on discussing, whether this musician is better than that one or if it wouldn’t have been more adroit to put a doublerhyme right there.
However, it should be some more years passing by until they had the financial abilities to equip themselves with 2 turntables and a mixer to access into Djing. In the meantime they played at many clubs in the RheinMain-area but had to take a break due to personal and job-related restrictions. It turned out to be a creative pause, since in this period their musical understanding and their sound has become more diverse.
In their very beginning they used to have a very single-edged clubsound, which consisted of HipHop, RnB & Dancehall and was very mainstream orientated.
But their personal preference has always lain in the scope of inventive, elaborated soundspheres. Somewhere between Funk, Soul, Disco, Golden Age HipHop and anything, that has a special groove to it. Now, in addition, you will also find a proper dose of DeepHouse, NuJazz, BrokenBeat, Breaks, Baltimore and Baile Funk.
It only has to make sense inside their mix. The suspense has to be arranged mutuable, which means, that special importance is attached on musical diversity. A musical line may be good – but it’s indispensable regarding the duration of an evening, to not just look left and right but to make a step forward as well.
Why does it have to be Souluvaz than?
Because Music without Soul can never pursue the natural meaning of art. Would Beethoven have been able to write one of his symphonies, if he wouldn’t have felt them in his deepest interior? Implausible.
It is necessary to be able to feel what you are presenting or fabricating at the very moment. Because if you can’t relate to your own music, it will be difficult to present it to an audience. Then it is going to be an exasperating affair – a point, which will sooner or later lead to the end of a musician’s career.
Without Love it’s impossible, because only Love can touch your Soul in the purest and most honest manner. There’s nothing deeper.
