Terry Petersen, husband, father, producer, engineer, songwriter, musician, singer, once a truck driver, owned a body shop and built a few houses. He said there are a few other things i left out with a grin. Besides his family and God, singing Christian music is what
holds that special place in his heart at this stage in his life. Let me take you back a few years he said.
It all started for him when he was 10 years old. His mom bought
him a cheap electric guitar, with an amp that was big enough to make noise.
He said he made so much noise that they made him go out in the hall way and
shut the door. It didn’t hurt his feelings though because they knew he was really
just trying to figure it out. He really wanted them to listen to him , but he
realized the only way that was going to happen was to learn how to play at least
something that wouldn’t make the paint peel off the walls. Through the mid "60’s" Terry’s Band called The Telstars opened for many other rock-n-roll acts. Turning too country music in the early seventy’s like so many other bands he just toured the local circuits and honky tonks. Recording another single in 1975 he realized how much he loved the recording process, so he built his first recording studio. Soon he had other artists and bands coming to him that wanted too record. Driving a truck and recording at night kept him pretty busy, but he said when your doing something you love you don’t watch the clock. He found himself needing more space so he said, looks like i will just have to build a bigger one, he laughed. Since then Terry has built seven studio’s, produced more artists than he can remember and worked with some of the best studio musicians in the world. He has also co-written with many hit song writer’s and artists one of them being Peter Cetera lead singer of the band "Chicago" which he says is in the works to be finished soon. Terrys band has opened for artists like Mel Street, Jim Ed Brown, Barbara Fairchild, Bill Anderson and Steve Wariner among others. Then 1979 came around
and he started a group called "Backstreet". They entered an International
Battle of the Bands. Out of 3,000 bands they came in third here in Nashville
performing all originals at T.P.A.C. in Nashville. They won some money, wow, you can make money doing this, well a little he said and recorded a free
single that they received from the contest. As the years passed Music was still a major part of his life, but always put on hold through lifes curves. In 1989 and 1990 talking about curves,
he got involved racing late model stock cars at NASCAR short tracks racing in TN and Alabama, Georgia where at a local track won rookie of the year.
1995 Terry got involved with Legend car racing with Brooks and Dunn and Mark
Collie at Nashville Speedway. Terry owned three race cars and loving racing,
won 4 championships. Both Mark Collie, also Peter Cetera of The group "Chicago"
drove the other two in Celebrity races. Through five years of being involved with The Legend Car Races
Terry along with 30 or 40 other artists raised funds for Diabetes Research for
Vanderbilt. Terry has said that he has met so many different
people throughout his life he wouldn’t change a thing if he could, well maybe a few with a smile. It took all the experiences of ups and downs to mold me into who i am today, they have made me stronger in faith, knowledge, compassion and learning we can make a difference in other peoples lives. You can
now find Terry in his recording studio recording, singing and writing again and also performing every chance he gets.
His next release in "2008" will expose his musical talent and lyrics which defines who he is today. He hopes that every one who buys it will enjoy all
the songs that mean so much too him and the spiritual message’s that they contain. Look for his new C.D. release in "2008" God Bless...
