A Life Of Winter

We Try Hard To Remember The Lies We Used To Tell

About Me

Change is inevitable in life. Days turn into night; Cloudy skies become clear. However, one thing people can count on is the perseverance and determination A Life Of Winter has shown in both their music and their capabilities as musicians; and although their sound now differs from what it was three years ago, their drive and ambition is something that will never change.A Life Of Winter has broken silence once again, this time with music that shows that an unofficial break has brought them official maturity musically. Years ago, the members of A Life Of Winter would never have imagined the roller-coaster ride they would endure in terms of finding a style of music that not only fits them, but music that carries tremendous amounts of emotion and honestly that, to them, has been a main objective for years. Through tumultuous ups and downs musically, as well as personally, each member can agree that they have officially found their "sound".No one could agree more that, at times A Life Of Winter was known as a struggle for the members of the group. Guitarist, Derek Grant, suffered a period of writer's block which haunted him as he struggled to overcome it by practicing more and more each day, but unfortunately, no results would come of the long hours. Drummer Drew Grant and bassist James Wertz became concerned as they seemed the most impatient to get back into writing and creating and finally releasing material. The wait was over when Vocalist Jon Grubb revealed material he had been working on. That day would prove to be significant for A Life Of Winter, for they were about to head into a direction they were looking for all along.
A Life of Winter's art can be best described like the Atlantic Ocean: frequent crashing waves, the tide coming in and withdrawing and with many colors it transcends. This complex analogy is a simple message that A Life of Winter clearly embraces "accessibility", something that they struggled to avoid for the sake of typecasting and compromise. But what each member has learned is the art of balance and the rule of writing and doing what they feel comfortable with. Each song marks a period in their life and the true, raw feelings at the time the song was written and that is what they believe drives honesty and music that is genuine. Through each song you can hear maturity and a sound so real, no one could deny its power and its emotion through the harmonies from Derek Grant's guitars, the low end giving life to each track from James Wertz, the emotional honesty through the voice of Jonathan Grubb completed by the eccentric and sometimes complex drumming of Drew Grant
The future is bright for A Life Of Winter, especially when you feel so connected with what they have been struggling with for years. They have the tools, the talent, the skill, and the drive to become better and better and not stopping until their goals are met. Be prepared....A Life of Winter has returned.
