About Me

I like expressing myself because I think it's important to have some connection with the life that's moving all around you. I like to do it in a variety of ways, since I think it'll prepare me for avoiding a dull mid-life lifestyle. I like wordplay, because I think the confines of any language can be suffocating. I like people who are all about bringing out the best in others. There's great warmth in being a part of that. Specifically, France has done wonders for me. I want to be there again. For now, it's just working on my 2006 New Year's resolutions, and making sure they all come to pass. Oh, and trying to say yes to all social events. Unless it involves powder. I've sworn off pampering!

My Interests

The Girl. (I think of her more than I think of hockey. too crazy) But hey: people who know me, know that I get excited about the mere mention of food. You would think I go on periods of fasting, but I don't; yep, I have a fast metabolism. My other interests sound basic, but I'm quite passionate about them. They are: music, watching movies, hockey, reading, singing in the shower, and writing poetry. Another two things: 1) I like the random novelty along with my usual helping of the mundane 2) I spend at least 10 percent of my time engrossed in, for lack of a better euphemistic phrase, "spiritual reflection". Ooooo.... *starts wiggling his fingers at the sides of his face*

I'd like to meet:

People who like things that I like. People who don't like things that I like, but are really passionate about those things.

Music:

Favorite singers: Elliot Smith, Chris Cornell; Most favorite bands: Interpol, and Radiohead. And the requisite others: Maroon 5/Kara's Flowers, Travis, Beatles, Rufus Wainwright, Postal Service, old U2, Morrissey/Smiths, Feist, Iron and Wine (thank you Tina); songs that simply get me everytime I hear them in the car (I drive a lot)--Linkin Park's "Faint", Coldplay's "The Scientist", Santana's and Michelle Branche's "Game of Love", Jimmy Eat World's "Praise Chorus", Radiohead's "No Alarms and No Surprises", Cure's "Friday I'm in Love" and "Just Like Heaven"; George Michael's "Kissing a Fool"; music I started liking during my stay in Paris: Nada Surf's "Always Love", Corneille, Tryo, Kyo, Jenifer, Lemar's duet with unknown French singer (my fave there) "Time to Grow"

Movies:

Batman Begins. Miracle. Good Will Hunting. Moulin Rouge. The Professional. Finding Neverland. Love Actually (please, no haters). What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Iront Giant. Elf. LOTR trilogy. The Machinist. Les Poupées Russes.

Television:

No cable. Probably why I watch a lot of movies and read so much.

Books:

What I can think of (there are so many others, and yes, I am a geek): LOTR series, a couple of Dickens, many classics, Harry Potter series, Clavell books (esp. Noble House and Shogun), Turtledove and Card books, and many history-related ones, Douglas Adams books. Asimov books. Catch-22.

Heroes:

Batman. He's always been good to me.

My Blog

Paris Poems, 4 of 4

I was leaving my tutoring job, in this swank apartment along Rue de Lincoln, and turning right onto the next street, I became a part of the people traffic along the Champs Elysees. It was a few days b...

Paris Poems, 3 of 4

I'm still working on a piece for the past few weeks. It's definitely not as polished as it can be, even though I rarely do much editing after the original thoughts leave my head. Anyway, the next two ...

Retitled: Across the Heavens

This is one of my favorite poems out of the small collection I've put out. What I like about it is the flow it has in the beginning. It's almost like a river stream, having no distinct beginning and n...

Playboy Style (Misunderstand Me)

I don't mean the magazine nor the franchise. But rather, the role. Anyway, this is the poem Mina and I collaborated on. She wrote two stanzas...funny enough, I think our style is different enough for ...

"She Tells Me" first draft

Ok, so I lied. It looks like I hammered out the first draft of my first song. Now me posting this thing doesn't mean it's great stuff. I honestly think I need to work on it quite a bit, but hey, whate...

Currently untitled. Ok, here's the deal. I'm stuck. And I think my stint as a song writer is coming to a close. But, maybe I'm just saying that because I've been busy with school and before that m...
