Come On Back to Bowling Green

About Me

This site is maintained by Mark Hayes, a Pat Haney fan. Please note: This is only a fan site, at this stage, Pat cannot answer messages sent to this page.
If singer/songwriters were vehicles, Pat Haney would be a slightly rusty 4-wheel drive, stump-jumping, workingman's pickup. The kind that starts (crankily) every morning, always gets you to work, can go anywhere, and bring back whatever's worth bringin'. A been-there, done-that truck with just enough holes in the floorboards to keep you in close touch with the elements.
Born in Edmonson County and raised in Bowling Green, Haney grew up in a family with abiding, wide-ranging musical interests. .. Pat taps into blue-collar experience (earned working on Mississippi River towboats, in liquor stores, pumping gas and laying carpet) every bit as much as from his book learnin'…
… Ghost of Things to Come (his second [CD]), the earthy, off-road Kentuckian extends and expands upon…a broad range of visceral Americana formats, flaunting his influences while continuing to establish a distinct sound and persona all his own.
Like Haney's critically-acclaimed debut ( Wrong Rite of Passage ), Ghost of Things to Come …no doubt will have you scurrying to "name that influence" even as you're trying to commit one jaw-dropping line after another to memory…Relax, sit back, and let 'em roll over you. You'll be coming back again and again...
Pat Haney is a substantial, provocative new voice in American roots music. You can also hear him singing "Waiting Around to Die" on… Poet: A Tribute to Townes Van Zandt , a project which includes Pat's heroes Steve Earle, Guy Clark and John Prine… ~ lonestarmusic.com

Recalling Anthony Howards interview with Pat

I hate doing interviews. Especially interviews of musicians. As a writer, I find them to be the least challenging and most uninteresting, usually degenerating into long, self absorbed ramblings on sub...

Lee Armstrong on "Ghost"
