About Me

Corn Bread Crew/Pen Pimpin'/Breadsticks EntertainmentFrom the moment Soopa Fli opens the intro with his swaggering flow over a vintage beatbox courtesy of Slopppy Joe, and Snotty follows with a crisp, fluid delivery, it's obvious that these dudes are bringing something a little different to the game. When the bass begins pounding on the title track, enhanced by soft wa-wa's and sharp gutair liks, Snotty and Fli get to doing what they do best: pimping their pens! They tag team on the track, as they do throughout much of the release, complementing one another with undeniable fervor. They've rejected the three regular topics in hip-hop (money, weed, and sex) choosing instead to expound upon everything from relationships, to their affinity for their craft and life trials. "Pain in Disguise" one of the standouts on the 12 track collection finds the Tennessee duo reflecting on love gone awry as Snotty rips the heavy gutair track with unbashed candor--"Don't want to say that I'm cursed /but when it comes to relationships I ain't fakin' it, blatantly I'm the worst..." "Tonite" should be a radio favorite, as the two brag about their exploits with women with spitfire intensity. Other notables include, "No Leeches," the reflective "Confused" and "Mai Chi." Snotty and Fli display the hunger that too many artists these days lack with their debut, and their sense of urgency is as infectious as it is appreciated. Versatile and gifted with words, CBC reintroduces the raw honesty and witty conceptualism that helped define hip-hop years ago with Pen Pimpin'. And it couldn't have come at a better time.- Jacinta Howard (Rolling Out Magazine, Atlanta,GA)
